Overview

The program contributes to the development of health professionals and economists who aspire to make their presence in the highly promising field of Health Economics. The demand for skilled health economist is enormous in various fields of healthcare industry. In India, it  is the first of its kind comprehensive programme offered at master’s level with two-year duration.

It is an interdisciplinary research-oriented programme, designed based on industry inputs, aimed at preparing the candidates to improve human well-being with limited resources. It  will be offered in collaboration with other departments (Public Health, Bio-statistics, and Pharmacology). Also, the department is in discussion with select reputed universities in Europe and Australia for credit transfer/ study abroad/ internship opportunities. The program will enable the candidates to be an effective decision-maker in the domain of Health Economics, and its allied functional areas.

Eligibility

Duration: 2 years (4 semesters).

Citizenship: Indian nationals can apply under the General Category. Foreign nationals or Non Resident Indians or Indian nationals supported by NRI relatives can apply under the Foreign/NRI Category.

Qualification: Candidates  with Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree in any disciplines such as Management, Commerce, Economics, Social work, Social Science, Nursing, Medicine, Dental, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Health Science, Occupational Therapy, Public Health, Life Sciences, Community Medicine, Mathematics, Statistics or any equivalent qualification from a recognized University with minimum of 60% marks at UG/PG level in aggregate are eligible to apply for the programme.  

All students will compulsorily attend a Bridge course offered by the Department before the start of the Main programme.

Admissions

General/Foreign/NRI Category: There will be no entrance exam for admission to this programme. Students need to submit a Statement of Purpose at the time of applying for admission. Based on their previous academic performance, statement of purpose and an interview conducted by the Admission Committee of the department, students will be offered admission for the programme.
