TISS ANNOUNCES Admission to the 2019-21 batch for it's Full-Time (Regular) Post-Graduate Degree Programmes (M.A., M. Sc., M.H.A., M.P.H.) offered from Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati, Hyderabad campuses and other locations like BALM, Chennai and TISS-Nagaland.

Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad campuses have independent high quality faculty engaged in teaching, research, policy and outreach activities. The Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad campuses are networked with Mumbai campus to access library, online books and journals and classes. All campuses have unified campus placement policy and placement process.

Present economic policies are increasingly threatening the right to livelihood based on access to natural resources of many poor and ordinary Indians. Private and corporate control over natural resources and consequent overexploitation is an issue of major concern for development field. Developing livelihoods strategies and achieving sustainability of livelihoods are central to most development progammes in India. Fair and transparent natural resource governance is integral to the sustainable livelihood development. Government has developed a range of policies and programmes which have immense potential to contribute to the goal of sustainable development, but it is felt that there is a great need of knowledge generation and skilled livelihood professionals.

About the Programme:

This M.A / M. Sc. programme aims at developing livelihood professionals, strong democratic value oriented practitioners, with in-depth knowledge of theory and practice of sustainable livelihoods as well as Natural Resource Governance, and their interdependence. The combination of courses in this programme focuses on interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches that include understanding the society, ecology, environment, sociology, economy, politics, governance and policy. This will provide reflexive learning, give a unique perspective and enhance capacity to work as Livelihood Professional in current global scenario.

Minimum Educational Qualification:

Candidates should have successfully completed Bachelor's Degree of minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education) from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India. Some Masters Degree programmes will have additional/specific eligibility requirements. Candidates are advised to refer to programme specific eligibility criteria (given in the Table below) for more details and ensure that they satisfy such specific eligibility criteria.

Candidates who will successfully complete, in all respects, all the requirements of their final year eligible degree (including all examinations and internships, if applicable) by Wednesday, June 5, 2019, are also eligible to apply.

Those candidates who are eligible to apply, but cannot submit the degree certificate and grade/mark sheet at the time of admission are required to submit these latest by September 30, 2019, failing which their provisional admission would stand automatically cancelled without any further reference to the candidate. The onus will be on the candidate to submit the degree/provisional degree and grade/mark sheet by September 30, 2019. No further extension of date will be allowed under any circumstances.
