Unique And Exciting Programme

PGP-DL is a one-year rigorous academic and field experience. The internationally recognized Australian Qualification Framework has been adopted as the competency framework for the curriculum. The course is being designed with inputs from eminent academicians and practitioners.

The curriculum takes a Problem-based Learning Approach focusing on building students' abilities to integrate into workplaces and begin contributing fairly quickly. The two-week Realising India immersion in a district, and the 10 week Residency in an organisation, add to the grounded experience of students. Apart from core courses that will provide students with foundational perspectives, knowledge and skills required for leadership roles in the development sector, we have also outlined electives that will enrich the learning experience.

The Post-Graduate Programme in Development Leadership is a 'practitioners' programme. It is carefully designed to meet the critical needs of organisations in the development sector. The programme ensures that our students develop the ability and comfort to straddle the entire spectrum of an organisation from funding to field practice.

At ISDM, we continuously engage with potential employer/organisations that recognise the value of proficiency in Development Management. These organisations are involved in our curriculum development process from the early stages. This helps us to understand their needs and to dovetail student experience to meet them.

Students will get both formal and informal opportunities to interact, engage and learn from sector leaders through classroom sessions, guest lectures, workshops, mentoring as well as through an involved and intense internship experience. Exposure and sensitization to ground level realities will also be developed through an enriching and diverse travel experience called “Realizing India”.

There are a myriad of organisations in the development sector, varied in size as well as focus - structurally, geographically, thematically, and in strategic approach. Students would have access to a range of unique and diverse career opportunities. Opportunities in the for-profit and not-for-profit, regional, national or international organisations, thematic areas like health, education, water, sanitation, gender etc., or in research and advocacy, would be available to students. ISDM's collaborations and partnerships with a wide range of such organisations would ensure that students can be placed to make a meaningful contribution to the space.
