Applications are invited from highly motivated and research-oriented students for the admission to PhD Program in the following areas of specializations of different disciplines as per the below-mentioned categories of admission and time schedule. Candidates are advised to visit the profiles of the faculty members at http://www.iiti.ac.in/People/faculty.html , discipline web pages, and the advertisement uploaded by each discipline, before applying for the PhD Program.

Candidates are selected for admission to PhD programs through a rigorous evaluation process which includes an interview by a selection committee and mere application does not imply automatic admission into the PhD program.

Admissions categories:-

For Indian Applicants

  • FA (Fellowship Awardee): Fellowship Awardees from the agencies such as CSIR, UGC, NBHM, etc. OR JRF/SRF project staff working in a Sponsored Research Project under a faculty member PI of the project) of IIT Indore. The scholarship will as per the rules/guidelines of the concerned funding agency.
  • TA (Teaching Assistantship): Teaching Assistantship with scholarship as per MHRD guidelines.
  • SW (Sponsored WITHOUT Institute scholarship): For excellent candidates sponsored from a highly reputed R&D organization or Industry. [After completion of required course work, either on Full Time (SWF) or Part Time (SWP) basis, with approval of the competent authority]
  • IS (Institute Staff): Only for permanent staff members of IIT Indore (on Part Time basis).
  • DF (Defense Forces): Serving personnel in the defense forces WITHOUT any scholarship from the Institute.
  • CT (College Teacher): Permanent Faculty members sponsored by a College/Institute/University which is amongst top 100 in NIRF of MHRD in the respective category in the immediate preceding year of the application.

Minimum Education Qualification and Qualifying Examination for Indian Applicants

Qualifying Degree and Examination

Minimum first class* Master degree in concerned discipline of HSS with UGC-JRF qualification or UGC-NET qualification or Equivalent Fellowship,

OR

Minimum first class* in the course work component (if any) of the M.Phil. degree in the concerned discipline of HSS,

OR

B.Tech from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with a minimum CPI of 8.0.

OR

Minimum first class* Master degree in Science/Engineering/ Social Sciences/International Business with UGC-JRF qualification or UGC-NET or CSIR-NET or Equivalent Fellowship.

Application Procedure {for Indian Applicants}:

Candidates must apply ONLINE through our website (http://academic.iiti.ac.in:8080/nregistration.jsp ). This will generate a unique application number for each applicant.

After Submitting the application online, the eligible candidate has to send the signed hard-copy of the application mentioning Statement of Purpose (SOP) along with State Bank Collect receipt, recent photograph, Self- attested relevant Certificates, (for SW candidates: No Objection Certificate, Experience Certificate, last 3 months salary slip and Employer's PAN card) to the DPGC convener of concerned Discipline/Center/School within 10 days from the last date of submission of online application.
