About Annamalai University

About the Conference:

India’s water crisis has reached alarming proportions and experts predict that it will worsen in future. NITI Aayog [National Institute for Transforming India, the Government’s official think tank / advisory body] published a Report which presents an alarming scenario. Observing that “India is suffering from the worst water crisis in its history and millions of lives and livelihoods are under threat”, the Report points out that “currently over 100 million Indians face high to extreme water stress and about two lakh [two hundred thousand] people die every year due to inadequate access to safe water

Papers are invited on the following themes:

  • Impact of water stress on the quality of life of people and on the economy of Tamilnadu and other regions in the country.
  • Methodological approaches to measure water stress.
  • Approachesto sustainable water management.
  • Valuation of water resources and the application of valuation studies for water management.
  • Case studies of sustainable water management in India and other countries.
  • Instruments for water management.
  • Institutions for sustainable water management.
  • Gender issues in water management

Procedure for Paper Submission:

Participants can submit both theoretical and empirical research papers and it should be neatly typed with 1.5 spaces in MS word format using 12 size Times New Roman font. Research papers should not exceed 7 pages, including tables and annexure. References cited in the text should conform to the Turabian style. The authors’ institutional affiliation, designation, and e-mail should be printed as footnote. A maximum of three authors per paper will be permitted.
