About the Conference:

VikasAnvesh Foundation (VAF) is a research center that focuses on researching big but under-attended problems of marginalised rural people in India. The first Research Conference of the Foundation titled “Rural India: Blossoming in Neglect?” was held in August 2018 in Pune. It provided an occasion to present and discuss over 35 papers across nine research themes and was attended by more than 160 individuals. These can be accessed on www.vikasanvesh.in. The attendees were researchers, academics, members of civil society organisations, personnel from media and policy-making bodies.

The Second Conference of VAF will be held in August / September 2019 in Pune. VAF invites academics and research scholars currently working on the following themes to submit and when selected present the papers in the Conference. While VAF will upload the contributions presented in the Conference on its website; contributors will retain their intellectual property over the piece and can publish it in a platform of their choice after the Conference.

 The themes chosen for the 2019 Conference are:

Status of and issues faced by elderly people in rural areas

• Challenges faced by State and district administration in providing welfare services to scattered and disenfranchised groups (e.g. PVTG, persons with disabilities, widows)
• Causes of under-representation of Muslims in higher and professional education
• Leadership in Collectives: Explicating institutional incentives for leaders in collectives of women
• Challenges to and potential interventions for scaling up of sustainable agriculture
• Trends in the contribution of commons-based livelihoods to economies of rural households
• Status (including timeliness, quality, fidelity and utility) of social audit processes of public programs

VAF will communicate its decision on inclusion of the paper for paper presentation or for poster presentation by July 15, 2019. VAF will make every effort to support travel and subsistence costs of the scholars for the purpose of attending and presenting the paper/poster.
