About the Organization

We are a global coalition of over 50 prominent climate and anti-disinformation organisations, calling for decisive, unified action against widespread climate misinformation and disinformation.

CAAD is dedicated to combatting climate mis/disinformation, uniting policy, research, and accountability initiatives to stimulate a meaningful global dialogue on effective climate solutions. We are steadfast in our commitment to breaking down one of the most significant obstacles to tackling climate change: the spread of deceptive and false narratives that undermine constructive discussions about our environment.

About the Fellowship

This fellowship supports grassroots organizers from the Global South who have experienced the impacts of online climate disinformation in their territories, and want to explore those more deeply through research and storytelling.

Between June and December 2025, selected fellows will carry out localized research on specific cases of climate disinformation in their communities, with guidance and mentorship from the Climate Action Against Disinformation (CAAD) research team and Roots. The program will kick off with a one-week intensive training to build shared research skills among participants.

You don’t need academic experience — we value lived experience, curiosity, and commitment --but we do ask that you have a working proficiency in English and/or Spanish. If you have a powerful story to tell, and time to dedicate to this process, we’d love to hear from you!

What we offer:

  • Mentorship and guidance with a team of researchers and experts on climate disinformation
  • Publication of research report on the CAAD and Roots websites and promotion via our social media channels
  • Online retreat to learn research methods and ways to collect information
  • Media and spokesperson training to help you build confidence with public speaking and when doing media interviews

Timeline: Fellowships will start on Monday, 7 July 2025. Writing of the draft research report must be completed by Tuesday, 30 September 2025. Editing of draft and final copy must be completed by Friday, 24 October 2025. We hope to present your findings at COP30 in Belem at CAAD's countering climate disinformation hub.

Social media: Fellows will likely be engaging with Roots' social media accounts on Instagram, LinkedIn as well as our website to promote your story and publication.

Eligibility

  • Based in a Global South country or are part of a diaspora community in the Global North
  • Have a record of organizing around climate and/or democracy issues
  • Have experience storytelling
