The Institute

Situated adjacent to the picturesque hill town of Nainital, ARIES (an acronym of Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences ) is one of the leading research Institutes which specializes in observational Astronomy & Astrophysics and Atmospheric Sciences. The main research interests of Astronomy & Astrophysics division are in solar, planetary, stellar, galactic and extra-galactic astronomy including stellar variabilities, X-ray binaries, star clusters, nearby galaxies, quasars, and inherently transient events like supernovae and highly energetic gammaray bursts. Research focus in Atmospheric Sciences division is mainly in the lower part of the atmosphere and covers the studies on aerosols and trace gases. Moreover, to strengthen the scientific contribution

ARIES invites applications for the Post-Doctoral Fellowship programs throughout the year and selection will be made twice in a year.

Qualification:

Ph.D. degree awarded from a duly recognized (UGC) University/Institute in the field of Astronomy & Astrophysics / Atmospheric Sciences.

Age:

Should not be more than 35 years on the last date of submission of application.

Fellowship:

Rs. 36000/- per month

Interested candidates may send their application (to directoraries@aries.res.in), CV, a brief summary of Ph. D. work (not exceeding 1 page), a research proposal (not exceeding 2 pages) using ARIES facilities and name of five researchers who can provide a recommendation letter for the candidate. It is expected that the research proposal to be relevant to the research at ARIES.
