The International Alliance for Women (TIAW) is seeking nominations for 2018 World of Difference Awards to recognize women, and men, whose efforts have advanced the economic empowerment of women locally, regionally or worldwide.

Whether the candidate is working on a small scale in the developing world or making an impact at the topic of the world’s biggest businesses, whether your candidate is well known or an unsung heroine or hero, they want you to tell them the stories of the people whose extraordinary achievements are furthering the economic empowerment of women.

ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT as defined by TIAW means contributing to the ability of women to earn a living or in some way directly contributing to the economic betterment of other women, as distinct from other worthy contributions that are not within the scope of these awards.

The International Alliance for Women connects leading women’s organizations worldwide to leverage their reach and resources, creating a global community of economically empowered women.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nominations for Individual Women
  • Community: How has the candidate contributed to the economic empowerment of women in her local community?
  • Corporate (individual women): How has the candidate contributed to the economic empowerment of women in the corporate world. And/or how has the candidate used her corporate position to further the economic empowerment of women outside the corporate world?
  • Education: How has the candidate contributed to the economic empowerment of women through education-based programs, initiatives or personal action?
  • Entrepreneurship: How has the candidate contributed to the economic empowerment of women through entrepreneurial activities? And/or how has the candidate positively impacted the entrepreneurial capability of women?
  • Non-Profit/NGO: How has the candidate contributed to the economic empowerment of women through work in, or the development of, non-profit or Non-Governmental Organizations?
  • Public Service/Government: How has the candidate contributed to the economic empowerment of women through a public service or government role?
  • Young Women Leaders (under 25 years of age): How has the candidate contributed to the economic empowerment of women through education-based programs, community work, entrepreneurship or personal action?

Nominations for Individual Men

  • Champion of women’s economic empowerment. How has the candidate contributed to the economic empowerment of women through outstanding individual contribution and effort to organizations or programs that support women’s economic empowerment and achievements in the corporate world that directly improve the economic empowerment of women?
  • Nominations for Corporation Organizations
  • (EXCLUDING NON-PROFITS & NGOS) Corporate initiatives for women’s economic empowerment. How has the organization being nominated contributed to the economic empowerment of women through its initiatives, policies (procurement, hiring, training etc.) or corporate social responsibility?
  • Other: Please describe how the candidate (individual, female, male or corporate) has positively impacted the economic empowerment of women in a way not captured in any of the categories/criteria above.
