Securing Water for Food innovators have breakthrough solutions and innovations in the water-ag space that are improving the way water is being used for agriculture. SWFF seeks to understand innovator’s reach, barriers to adoption, and economic and development impact.

About the Event:

SWFF Seeks Student Field Evaluators for Summer Research Project ($5,000). SWFF seeks Field Evaluators to conduct in-country, field research with SWFF innovator partner farmers and stakeholders using established guidelines and research questions. SWFF relies on Field Evaluators to collect data that is independent from the perspectives of organizations who rely on reported “success” for continued funding or to provide a historical perspective on the sustainability of the funding. The Field Evaluator is required for the following: 1) Travel to the selected country to conduct the research, 2) Prepare and submit a draft report/outline while in-country, 3) Prepare and submit a second draft within 30 days of your return to the US/your home base, and 4) Process editorial inputs of your second draft provided SWFF editorial team.

Eligibility:

• Masters-level graduate or current Masters-level student who wants to participate in a self-paced, dynamic, and meaningful research project in Ethiopia, India, Uganda, Bangladesh or South Africa
• Ideal Field Evaluator candidate has the skills and interest in gathering qualitative and quantitative data from farmers and other stakeholders in emerging market economies. Exact dates of travel are dependent on farming cycles and SWFF innovator availability.
•  Field Evaluators will be expected to be (at a minimum) in the field 6-8 weeks in the field during the Summer of 2019 and spend the remainder of the engagement finalizing the research results.

Benefits:

• SWFF will purchase the roundtrip airfare to and from the country of destination, issue a stipend of $2,500 to each Field Evaluator prior the trip to cover expenses related to the travel (e.g., hotel accommodations, food, local transportation, etc.), and issue another $2,500 payment after submission of final deliverable (which includes one editorial review/interaction). Field Evaluators will be responsible for arranging their own accommodations in and travel insurance for the host country.
