About the Organization

Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens We envision that humanity is guided by global citizen leaders

The Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens’ mission is to foster leadership for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement by inspiring current leaders and empowering young changemakers. Working with governments, civil society, academia, and international organizations we have so far reached more than 770,000 people around the world. Located in Vienna, Austria, we were founded by Co-chairs Ban Ki-moon, the 8th Secretary-General of the UN, and Heinz Fischer, the 11th President of the Republic of Austria.

About the Program

The Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens (BKMC), supported by Dubai Cares, and in collaboration with Plan International and Unbounded Associates, is delighted to announce the launch of our new action-based program: Your Future in Green Jobs Mentorship Program.

Designed for people between the ages of 14 to 20, it builds on the knowledge youth gain from the Your Future in Green Jobs Online Course, the goal of which is to connect the passion, interests, and skills of young people with meaningful green career pathways.

In this program, you will participate in two workshops and receive tailored mentorship from green job practitioners and experts. Further, you will place yourself at the heart of climate action by implementing an SDG Micro-Project thereby putting the skills and knowledge you gained from the course into practice! These micro-projects aim to tackle one or more of the SDGs in local communities, leading to a better, greener future.

By participating in this program, you will:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of what green jobs are and what skills you need to pursue them
  • Participate in tailored workshops on project management, pitching and presentation skills, as well as topics such as education, gender, and climate
  • Put your knowledge into practice by designing and implementing your own SDG Micro-Project with guidance from your mentor and support from the BKMC and trainers
  • Get extensive one-on-one mentorship from a green job professional, and develop actionable next steps to pursue your desired career
  • Build professional connections and advance your networking and project-management skills.
