Connecther provides a platform for non-profits to raise funds for their projects. Non-profit organizations, that are providing services to women and children in their quest for self-reliance, register their organizations then add their projects to Connecther.

CALL FOR ENTRIES

The Girls Impact the World Film Festival is an annual event that focuses on issues facing women and girls around the world. High school and undergraduate students, submit your 3-6 minute short films that address global women's issues such as: education for girls, maternal health, violence against women and girls, and a variety of other issues. Please start working on your films for the 2019 Festival - the film submission deadline is January 20, 2019! Submission portal will be open for entries on November 1, 2018. 

Winners will be awarded over $25K in prizes! The Red Carpet Event for the 2019 awards ceremony will be held in Austin, TX, USA on Saturday, April 13, 2019. Mark your calendar!

FILMMAKER REQUIREMENTS: 

Who can enter?

Students enrolled in high school or undergraduate programs are qualified to enter. If chosen as a finalist, filmmakers must provide proof of enrollment at their school/university. (Special circumstances may be considered for youth who are not in school.) Filmmakers must be 25 years old or under by the submission date of January 20, 2019

How many films can I enter?

You may enter up to TWO films as long as they address two separate topics.

Are any countries excluded from participating?

All countries are welcome to participate, however, due to U.S. export regulations, we may have difficulty disbursing scholarship funds if winners are residents of Cuba, North Korea, Sudan, Iran, and/or Syria.

FILM REQUIREMENTS:

What are the basic requirements for a Girls Impact the World film?

  • Films must be 3 to 6 minutes long.
  • They must focus on a Girls Impact the World topic and/or propose solutions to one critical challenge within that topic.
  • Films must be created after January 1, 2018.
  • Be an original film that does NOT contain copyrighted material.
  • Original work should never be a copy or remake of another film. All Girls Impact the World Film Festival film submission must be original works made entirely by students. That means that scripts and storyboards, directing, cinematography, editing, etc., must be done by students aged 25 and under although teachers and advisers can offer input.
  • Actors and film subjects may be non-students.
  • Powerpoints will not be accepted.

Can I use a film that I have submitted elsewhere?

No. Entries must be original films that have NOT yet been submitted to other film festivals.

What else do I need to include in my film?

If your film contains any graphic content, include a warning near the beginning of the film. ConnectHER has full discretion in accepting or denying films, particularly in instances where film submissions contain profanity, violence, or sexually explicit content.

At the end of your film, please add a slide that lists at least two organizations that are working on solutions to the issue(s) that you address.

 Once your film has been approved and placed in the Girls Impact the World Film Festival gallery, share it! A People’s Choice winner will be selected by judges from the top 10 films with the most votes.
