“Youth Entrepreneurship Network- Innovate, Ideate & Connect”

The U.S. Consulate General Public Affairs Section in Kolkata is seeking proposals for its program entitled “Youth Entrepreneurship Network: Innovate, Ideate and Connect” to implement a three-phased intensive workshop for 40-50 young entrepreneurs to spur a nascent culture of entrepreneurship in eastern India, empower underserved youth leaders, and to strengthen linkages between young entrepreneurs in India and the U.S.

The U.S. Consulate General strongly supports initiatives that develop the skills of youth through exchange programs, leadership training and experiential learning, and that connect American and Indian youth through sustainable linkages between schools and community organizations.  This project will help enhance U.S.-India strategic partnership with a focus on empowerment through entrepreneurship.

Program Goals

The goals of this funding opportunity are to:

  • Support economic growth and development by providing training opportunities and building skills capacities for youth.
  • Strengthen people-to-people ties between the United States and India through exchanges of information, experiences and expertise.
  • Enhance U.S.-India strategic partnership through a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Program Objectives

  • Promoting a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship with a “U.S-India higher education collaboration focus” and U.S. business opportunities.
  • Focusing on needs assessment, specific skill building, and mentorship.
  • Creating role models for aspiring business management students.
  • Harnessing the creativity of young leaders from marginalized communities.

Funding Information

Estimated Total Program Funding: $50,000

Award Ceiling: $54,000

Award Floor: $50,000

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligibility is open to all non-profit, non-governmental organizations.
  • Individuals are not eligible.
  • Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education.
  • Public and State controlled institutions of higher education.
  • Organizations may sub-contract with other entities, but only one, non-profit, non-governmental entity can be the prime recipient of the award.
  • Pre-award costs are not an allowable expense for this funding opportunity.
  • This award does not allow for construction activities or costs.
  • U.S. Embassy New Delhi grants/cooperative agreements cannot be used to fund religious or partisan political activity; fundraising campaigns; commercial projects; scientific research; projects whose primary aim is the institutional development of the organization, or illegal activities.
