The U.S. Consulate General supports empowerment of women through various measures, including social entrepreneurship. Though Hyderabad offers several avenues for young entrepreneurs, it has limited facilities to assist youth interested in social entrepreneurship, specifically young women. For want of adequate support, women – particularly from the underserved communities – who are interested in pursuing careers in social entrepreneurship find it difficult to emerge as successful social entrepreneurs. This initiative is aimed at providing opportunities to familiarize young women with the nuances of social entrepreneurship thus empowering aspiring young women with the tools and skills to follow their own social entrepreneurial endeavors.

Program Goals: The goals of this funding opportunity are to:

1. Support the empowerment of women by providing social entrepreneurial skills and mentoring opportunities to encourage women pursue further education and career paths in social entrepreneurship.

2. Promote the understanding of social entrepreneurship among women college students and aspiring young women entrepreneurs.

3. Strengthen people-to-people ties between the United States and India by facilitating the exchange of ideas, experiences, knowledge and methods of teaching social entrepreneurship to women college students between the two countries

Objective: To develop a curriculum on social entrepreneurship and then implement a series of workshops for 600 women college students to introduce them to social entrepreneurship and provide them with the tools and skills to initiate their own social entrepreneurial endeavors

Proposals must detail: The grantee is responsible for all aspects of the program. Submitted proposals should include programmatic and financial details on the following:

1. Design of curriculum development work plan: The grantee should provide a detailed work plan for designing the curriculum, teaching and learning materials and resources. PAS Hyderabad will also provide guidance on visiting American entrepreneurs, scholars, experts and students who can serve as resource persons or participate in the workshops.

2. Organize and implement workshops: The grantee is expected to plan, organize and implement the workshops. This includes proposing the cities and universities/colleges for PAS Hyderabad approval, identifying participants, drafting the schedule and format of the workshops, developing material and managing all logistical elements.

3. Design follow-on mentoring activities: The grantee should propose two levels of follow-on mentoring activities including intensive mentoring sessions for the top two selected participants of each workshop for a specified amount of time and access to materials and resources for all workshop participants and university/college faculty members to design seminars/courses on social entrepreneurship.

4. Traditional and/or social media plan for amplification and advertisement of the program activities and outcomes: The grantee should propose a social media amplification plan that amplifies activities and connects other aspiring women social entrepreneurs for continued interaction and engagement. Proposed plans could include interactive posts with students, entrepreneurs, university/college faculty members and mentors on the topic of social entrepreneurship and short videos capturing elements of the workshops including questions and thoughts of participants on entrepreneurship before and after attending the workshop.

5. Monitoring and evaluation plan: The grantee will submit a detail monitoring and evaluation plan that includes pre and post surveys for workshop participants.
