Background:

The U.S. Consulate General supports promotion of the arts as a leveraging point to discuss important aspects that can lead to social change and further exchanges between India and the United States including performative storytelling projects, poetry slam events, theatre performances, poetry recitations, and photo exhibitions. These programs provide a platform to discuss a number of issues including women’s empowerment, gender-based violence, environmental awareness and pluralism, tolerance and inclusion.

Program Goals: The goals of this funding opportunity are to:

1. Strengthen people-to-people ties between the United States and India through exchanges of information, experiences and expertise using art as a medium and platform.

2. Strengthen the skills and capacity of local organizations to develop their capacity on using arts programs to address issues of concern to local communities.

Objectives:

To design and implement a series of arts programs and events to address a variety of social issues.

The grantee is responsible for all aspects of the program. Submitted proposals should include programmatic and financial details on the following:

1. Schedule and details of suggested events: Proposals should include a calendar of recommended events spread out over 10-12 months and detail how that medium will address the specific theme. Proposals should include details on the financial and programmatic elements of implementing the events including all logistics. PAS Hyderabad will give final approval on all suggested events and themes.

2. Traditional and/or social media plan for amplification and advertisement of the program activities and outcomes: The grantee should devise a plan to advertise and promote the activities to draw key targeted audience, in coordination with PAS Hyderabad.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation: The grantee should devise a monitoring and evaluation plan to measure the outputs and outcomes of the specific activities. The grantee should manage the grant in accordance with U.S. regulations and procedures, and provide required documentation when requested.

Award Information

1. Funding Type and Amount: Grant/cooperative agreement

  • Minimum (“Floor”) Award Amount: $30,000
  • Maximum (“Ceiling”) Award Amount: $32,000

Eligibility Criteria

1. Eligibility is open to all non-profit, non-governmental organizations. Individuals are not eligible for an award under this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). Organizations may sub-contract with other entities, but only one, non-profit, non-governmental entity can be the prime recipient of the award. When sub-contracting with other entities, the responsibilities of each entity must be clearly defined in the proposal.

2. Cost sharing or matching is not required for this funding opportunity.

3. Pre-award costs are not an allowable expense for this funding opportunity.

4. This award does not allow for construction activities or costs.

5. U.S. Consulate General, Hyderabadgrants/ cooperative agreements cannot be used to fund religious or partisan political activity; fundraising campaigns; commercial projects; scientific research; projects whose primary aim is the institutional development of the organization, or illegal activities.
