240 School Teachers Join Tata Steel BSL’s campaign on Energy  Conservation in Sahibabad

Tata Steel BSL has organized a unique campaign to spread awareness about energy conservation called -‘Sahayog- UrjaBachat Ki Aur’. A virtual session on the subject was conducted where 240 school teachers from schools of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh around our plant in Sahibabad had participated.

The virtual event was formally inaugurated by Mr Brij Bhushan Choudhary, Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA), Ghaziabad, and Government of Uttar Pradesh (UP) in presence of Mr Anoop Kumar Trivedi, Executive Plant Head, Tata Steel BSL, Sahibabad, MrSachinGolwalkar, CEO, and United Way Delhi (UWD). The session, organized with the support from BSA, Government of UP and in collaboration with our NGO partner UWD and conducted by the resource person from Delhi based The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) , is part of a three month long campaign on energy conservation run by Tata Steel BSL under its  Integrated Development through Innovative Approach (IDIA).

Appreciating the initiative Mr Brij Bhushan Choudhary said, “Energy is a very critical resource and it’s incumbent on us to inculcate the culture of energy saving among the future citizens of the country. Sessions like these would go a long way in achieving this objective. “

Mr Anoop Kumar Trivedi said, “We are glad that ‘Sahayog- UrjaBachat Ki Aur’ received such a tremendous response from everyone.  At Tata Steel BSL we strongly believe in making sustainable choices and protecting the environment. This campaign is a step towards empowering the new generation of the responsibilities they have towards the environment and how can they use it more efficiently.”

MrSachin Golwalkar, spoke about the sustainable development goal and how Environmental Concerns has become one of the prime objectives of the nation.

The knowledge sharing session was conducted by Ms Neha, fellow at TERI, with a focus on practical solution that can be adopted in school and at home to conserve energy.  The campaign, starting on December 14, 2020 on World Energy Conservation Day, aims to create awareness and sensitize individuals on the importance of energy conservation and encourage all to adopt sustainable energy saving measures in their daily life.

The campaign has reached out to the youth and adolescents of Maharajpur and Kadkad Model in Sahibabad. Besides the teachers from 240 schools will carry forward the messages to thousands of students in their respective schools on the importance of energy conservation. As an innovative approach towards energy consumption, competitions have been also launched in schools of Ghaziabad for the students to share their ideas on energy saving and conservation through videos, paintings and posters.
