AMC-supported 'No-Cost Aqua Therapy' center for the specially abled to be developed by Madhuram Charitable Trust

Madhuram Charitable Trust, an organisation committed to creating a positive impact in the lives of the marginalized, specially gifted, and physically challenged persons, has begun work on its Aqua Therapy Centre for children with disabilities.

Coming up at navrangpura in Ahmedabad, the Aqua Therapy Centre will be the first of its kind in Gujarat, and will benefit thousands of children with disabilities. The pool will be half the Olympic-size pool and will also be used to provide training for the Special Olympics.

“I heartily congratulate Madhuram Charitable Trust and Ms. Shraddha Soparkar & team Madhuram for the great mission Aqua Therapy Swimming Pool at Navarangpura, Ahmedabad. My best wishes and grand success in the mission of world best Aqua Therapy Center. First ever in Gujarat will be beneficial for treatment and exercises performed in water for muscle relaxation, fitness, physical rehabilitation, etc” said the Additional Municipal Commissioner Ahmedabad Dr. I.K Patel.

“We have got the land permission from Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and started construction of the pool. There isn’t any such Aqua Therapy Centre in Gujarat and it was the need of the hour. It is truly a big shot in the arm in our efforts to provide therapy to physically challenged children and help them lead as normal lives as possible,” said Shraddha Soparkar, Founder Trustee of Madhuram Charitable Trust.

Aqua Therapy refers to treatment and exercises performed in water for muscle relaxation, fitness, physical rehabilitation, and other therapeutic benefits. Some private clinics offer aqua therapy but the fee of Rs. 1,200-1,500 per hour is way beyond what most people can afford.

At Madhuram Charitable Trust’s Aqua Therapy Centre, the therapy will be provided free of cost to marginalized children with disabilities. Twenty coaches will be appointed and around 100 such children can undergo aqua therapy at the centre each day.

“We are a charitable organisation, and the centre will be run on a no-profit basis. This project could be a great CSR opportunity in helping us eradicating disability” she said further.

"Being on the board of advisory committee of the trust, it feels great to be associated with one of its kind aqua project in Ahmedabad Gujarat, this will be a big step in building a better future for disabled children" Said the CA Jainik Vakil

Madhuram has roped in Rakesh Sachdeva, who is known as the pool man and has executed close to 1,200 swimming pools across the country, for designing the pool. Some of the famous projects he has designed and constructed swimming pools in include Adani Farms, Hotel Taj Vivanta, The Westin Sohna Resorts and Spa, Tata Gateway, Indian Railways Health Club, and Godrej Aria.

Medical facilities, including emergency aid and equipment and trained nursing staff, will be deployed at the Aqua Therapy Centre to avoid any untoward incidents and to provide emergency care in case of one. The pool will be equipped with a high-end filtration system and heat pump and maintained as per international hygiene standards. Experienced aqua therapists will be deployed at the pool.
