AROH Foundation in association with HDFC Bank Sets up Digital Library in Mawjrong village, Meghalaya

AROH Foundation in association with HDFC Bank inaugurates digital library in Mawjrong village of Laithkroh block of Meghalaya. Block Development Officer Mr.Tynsong felicitated the occasion as Chief Guest and inaugurated the library, which is anticipated to serve as an e-facilitation center as well as a platform that can accommodate a wide range of vital information, visual demonstrations and practical lessons on a single click. This centre shall help the villagers gather information, be updated about various government schemes, enrol & benefit from various such schemes and simultaneously the children shall read & learn.

Digital libraries are quickly becoming the norm at colleges and universities. It provides with a combination of technology and information resources and allow even remote access to educational content, breaking down the physical barriers. This facilitation center in Mawjrong village shall give access to multiple contents with a potentially infinite number of resources. This means students and youth can consult online books, images, videos and all the other educational contents without having to wait and go to the nearest physical library.

AROH Foundation has been a protagonist player in Holistic Village Rural Development Projects in 12 interior most villages of East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya and in association with HDFC Bank, has been actively achieving new milestones of innovations and change through various need-based interventions. In the same series, digital library is anticipated to boost seamless flow of information, ease of digital transactions will support young talent to read, learn, analyse and communicate in a better and more effective way.

Program was followed by the speech by the officials from HDFC Bank Ltd. Mr.Petrus and by the headman of Mawjrong village who also awarded winning candidates of Swachhta Awards. Appreciating the work done by AROH Foundation BDO Mr.Tynsong said “We have been seeing that development of deprived sections has been primary motive of project PARIVARTAN and establishment of this digital library is a positive commencement to facilitate the same. Also, although the library is here now but the real testimony now lies in ensuring it provides ample information & opportunities to people and simultaneously inculcate reading habits within children. Together with AROH we are bound towards positive PARIVARTAN.”
