Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation to launch 'MISAAL' sanitation programme

The city has improved in sanitation and has secured 12th rank in India. To sustain and improve it further, it is going to launch "Moving Towards Sanitation for All (MISAAL)" programme. This programme is supported by the Government of India and United States Agency for International Development. The prime focus of the programme is urban sanitation in selected historic cities of Gujarat, Karnataka and Rajasthan.

"The aim of MISAAL is to make transformative changes in the city of Ahmedabad which has bagged the UNESCO's World Heritage inscription. MISAAL will align its activities with the Swachh Bharat Mission and will help the city of Ahmedabad to demonstrate sustained ODF," said Rakesh Shankar, deputy municipal commissioner, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

The activities to be carried under this programme include: sanitation mapping, preparing IT-based knowledge management tools, capacity building of municipal functionaries through e-learning, national and international city-city partnership.
