Assistive devices, aids distributed to 530 persons’

The Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., in association with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India Ltd (ALIMCO), distributed assistive devices and aids to about 530 persons with disabilities at a special camp
Various assistive devices and aids such as tricycles, wheel chairs, crutches, walking sticks, hearing aids and chairs for cerebral palsy children were distributed on the occasion.
The assistive devices were totally valued at ₹53.19 lakh sanctioned under the corporate social responsibility initiative of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Tamil Nadu State Office, an official release said.
Distributing the devices to beneficiaries, Collector K. Rajamani said the ALIMCO had conducted special camps to identify the beneficiaries, who were given the assistive devices, over the past three months in the district. Mr. Rajamani disclosed that national identity cards has been issued to 60,000 persons with disabilities in the district. Since April 2018, over ₹10 crore worth of welfare assistance has been extended to persons with disabilities in the district.
R. Sitharthan, Executive Director, IOCL-TN SO, Anupam Prakash, Senior Manager and Unit Head, ALIMCO, Bengaluru, S. Ravindran, District Differently Abled Welfare Officer, and other officials were present.
