Children's Day: 48 underprivileged Chennai kids fly in special flight

IndiGo flew 48 underprivileged children in a special flight which operated from Chennai airport on Wednesday to mark Children's Day. The initiative was carried out by IndiGo in association with the Airports Authority of India under the airline's corporate social responsibility programme - IndiGoReach. The children were selected from government schools in the neighbourhoods near the airports - Anakaputhur, Pozhichalur, Meenambakkam and Cowl Bazaar. An ATR aircraft was used for the one-and-a-half-hour flight. It flew up to Trichy and returned without landing there.
Captain Ashim Mittra, senior vice-president, flight operations, IndiGo said, “Creating these special moments became even more fulfilling when we saw these kids getting thrilled over an aircraft taking off and landing back at the airport. We thank all our colleagues, members from the Airport Authority of India, Indian Oil and Ola who joined us in making this Children’s Day celebrations special.”
