DP World Wins The 'Best Green Practices' at Manufacturing Supply Chain Awards 2020

DP World India has won the prestigious 'Best Green Practices' Award at Manufacturing Supply Chain Awards in recognition of the various environmentally friendly and sustainable initiatives undertaken by the company. DP World, a leading global logistics company, strongly believes that working in a sustainable and responsible way is essential for building a strong business for customers, people and society. The company was bestowed with this significant award during the 9th Edition of Manufacturing Supply Chain Summit held in Mumbai. The event was attended by top leaders from supply chain & logistics as well as manufacturing industry.

In India, DP World has invested in a variety of impactful green initiatives that include rainwater and greywater harvesting, the implementation of solar-powered water pumping systems, installation of solar panels at its terminals and the local schools, as well as the installation of solar streetlamps in the local villages. Through its “Trees for Life” program the company has invested in the education of farmers on sustainable land use system that maintains and increases total yields by combining food crops with tree crops on the same unit of land. Over 31,000 saplings have been planted by the company till date with 100% survival rate. On energy and reducing carbon footprint, DP World has installed and operates electronic rubber-tired gantries (eRTG) at port terminals, as well as electrical vehicles at its facilities. DP World is also trying to make supply chains more energy efficient by promoting alternate modes of transportation including rail, coastal shipping and Inland waterways. DP World owns and operates six container terminals, seven inland rail terminals and five container freight stations. The company operates rail services connecting major cargo centres to gateway ports. It has Pan-India capability in providing warehousing, 3PL, express and cold chain services. The company is also building two Free Trade Warehousing Zones in Nhava Sheva and Chennai that will be operational by next year.
