Here’s a list of major CSR Foundations headquartered in Mumbai and run by Pharma companies:

Glenmark Foundation

Following the theme of ‘Healthier children, Healthier world’, Glenmark Foundation, the CSR arm of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals is progressively working towards improving child health and reducing infant/ child mortality. They have had a positive impact over 6, 18,617 lives through various child health initiatives.

Glenmark Foundation Initiative:

PROJECT KAVACH: ‘protective shield’

This project has positively impacted over 6, 00,000 lives through number of interventions aimed at encouraging a positive health seeking behaviour among pregnant women, mothers with infants and caregivers.

 

GLENMARK GLOBAL JOY OF GIVING: ‘Festival of Philanthropy’

Glenmarkians from 32 locations in 16 countries voluntarily contributed either financially or in kind to a selected cause through the Joy of Giving - Festival of philanthropy. Over the years, 3500 employees have volunteered over 15900 hours of to community service.

 

Novartis Comprehensive Leprosy Care Association (NCLCA)

The Novartis Foundation for Sustainable Development has been active in the fight againstleprosy. NCLCA provides comprehensive care for Leprosy patients, train health workers and provide support to past leprosy patients in reintegration into society. The project team uses disability care — including surgery, grip aids and physiotherapy.

NCLCA workshops mainly include:

Early detection of leprosy, mainly among children

Instructions on how to treat the wound and provide them with a self care kit

Physiotherapy advises to prevent future deformities.

Provision of physical aids to correct hand and/limb deformities.

Provision of instant grip aids to enable people with advanced deformities to perform daily tasks without assistance.

PIRAMAL SWASTHYA: ‘affordable healthcare’

It possesses technological and management strengths and specialized medical expertise andhas touched more than 76 million lives. The Health Information Helpline (HIHL) is a health contact centre that works to reduce minor ailment load on the public health system. The Telemedicine Services brings the much needed specialist healthcare services to remote areas and Mobile Health Services (MHS) deploys mobile health unit.

 

PIRAMAL SARVAJAL: ‘Clean water for all’

Sarvajal is committed to providing pure and safe drinking water for the under-served at minimum price. It provides affordable clean drinking water to around 3, 00,000 people on a daily basis. Sarvajal is a social enterprise implementing an innovative and technology-centric solution for decentralized filtration and distribution. Working with rural entrepreneurs, Sarvajal is creating a self-sustaining solution. Sarvajal has dispensed more than 8.99 billion litres of clean drinking water to people across twelve states.

 

PIRAMAL FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATION LEADERSHIP: ‘Creating Leaders’

This particular project is aimed at creating leadership capacity in the education sector. PFEL works in 3400+ schools across 5 states benefitting more than 5, 60,000 children. PFEL runs two parallel programs- Principal Leadership Development Program (PLDP) and Piramal Fellowship.

Its flagship programme, aims at operating 1000 Mobile Health Vans in rural India and providing free primary healthcare to 25 million Indians every year. There are 91 Mobile 1000 Vans operating in 18 states administering free primary healthcare to more than 2 million Indians in rural & remote parts of India.

 

PRONTO TOILETS: ‘Sanitation first’

Its sanitation program is part of the Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. It has now undertaken an ambitious plan of constructing more than 60,000 household toilets in Orissa.

Urvi Ashok Piramal Foundation (UAPF) is a not for profit organisation, an initiative underCorporate Social Responsibility. It is registered under the Public Trust Act, October 2010 at Mumbai. The foundation has grown and works in the areas of Education, Health, Livelihood, Village Development and environment.

UAP Foundation Initiatives:

AAYUSHI HEALTHCARE: ‘rural healthcare on wheels”

Through this project, Mobile Health Units (MHU) is operated in tribal, semi-urban and rural areas — across Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The vans go to predefined villages, screening villagers and running basic tests on them. In all, the vans cover 125 villages and a total population of 30, 0000.

 

OPTHOLOMOGY ON WHEELS: ‘eye care services on wheels’

Under this project in Jhunjhunu vision screening, treating refractive errors and cataract surgeries are being performed. Regular eye camps and awareness on preventing blindness is conducted in the entire District.

 

THE MOBILE HEALTH UNIT: ‘basic healthcare at your door steps’

Provide basic healthcare at the door steps in tribal, rural and semi-urban areas and Reach out to as many people as possible. To ensure a larger surface area is monitored, the van covers newer locations periodically.
