Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh launched the "Go to Village" mission at Konuma ground, Laphupat Tera, Komlakhong gram panchayat in Imphal West district, on Tuesday.

The mission was launched throughout Manipur in 60 villages of all the 60 Assembly constituencies. Tuesday has been slotted as a day to visit different villages located in this district to ensure physical involvement of government officials to identify and reach out to the deserving beneficiaries.

Biren Singh said "human-oriented politics" is the foremost principle of the present government and it is committed to deliver good governance and bring inclusive development in the state.

The chief minister said politicians should refrain from doing politics that affect the lives of the people. "We shouldn't let people suffer," he said, adding that the government doesn't belong to any political party, it belongs to the people and is for the people.

He said such a mission would create an opportunity to build a bright future for the people of the state.

Under the new mission, the government would identify eligible and deserving beneficiaries and would deliver government services at their doorstep. A review meeting would be held next week with all the officials to assess the requirements and data collected from the camps, the chief minister said.

He said there are 2,515 census villages in the state and the data collection of the requirements of such villages would be completed in 11 months. He appealed to the people of the state to come forward and avail of the benefits being provided under the mission.

On the occasion, Biren Singh distributed welfare assistance to beneficiaries such as construction of individual household toilets, soil health cards, paddy seeds, weaver cards, sewing machines, CMST (Chief Ministergi Hakshelgi Tengbang and a health care scheme) cheques.

He inspected various stalls and counters of various departments and banks. He took part in a tree plantation drive around Konuma ground.
