Google.org Launches USD20 Million Impact Challenge for Disabilities (As Grants to NGOs)

Google.org is currently inviting nonprofit organisations of India to submit ideas for its Google Impact Challenge with the potential to transform the lives of people with disabilities. Award of $20 million will be provided to nonprofit organizations using emerging technologies to increase the independence of people living with disabilities. People with technological innovation that will create meaningful and positive change for people with disabilities are welcome to submit proposals.

What Google.org is looking for?

Big Ideas

Ideas should be transformative and address not only the change you seek for your organization, but also the change you want to see in the world.
In 10 years, if your idea were to be wildly successful, how would the lives of people with disabilities be different?

Technology at the Core

Ideas should apply technology in a way that is innovative and effective. Technology shouldn’t just make your existing work more efficient; it should create or enable entirely new solutions and approaches.
Of course, we love ideas that involve the development of cutting-edge technology, but innovative applications of existing technology are also welcome.

 Potential for Scale

We don’t expect your idea to reach millions of people in a year (if it can, definitely submit it), but you should be able to articulate a way in which it could ultimately reach a large number of people.

 Organization Eligibility

Nonprofits and public charities from any country are eligible to submit an idea.
Your organization must hold valid and current charity status as determined by the legislation
of your country of incorporation. During the review process, you may be asked to provide documentation confirming your charitable status, and other materials such as financial statements, to Google and/or its agents.

The following entities are not eligible to submit ideas: governmental entities and organizations, including, but not limited to, public schools and universities, for-profit organizations
and individuals.

 Timeline

Ideas will be evaluated on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to submit whenever you are ready. We will accept ideas until September 30, 2015 at 2:00 pm, Pacific Daylight Time.
