Under its corporate social responsibility initiatives, Vardhman Group has taken up the project of constructing a new block in a government school at Lohara. The new block will be comprised of 14 classrooms, three staff rooms and separate toilets for boys and girls.

Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal laid the foundation stone of the new Vardhman Block at Government School Lohara in Ludhiana on Tuesday. On the occasion, the top management of the group, including Suchita Jain and Neeraj Jain, were present along with DEO Sawarnjeet Kaur, school Principal Parminder Kaur, village sarpanch and the school management committee members. A great amount of enthusiasm was seen among the school staff and students.

The project with an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore is expected to be completed within the next 6-8 months. Presently, the school has 1,500 students, mostly belonging to underprivileged sections of society. Due to shortage of rooms in the school, around 250 students are denied admission every year, who would now be easily accommodated in the new block.

A similar block had been constructed by the group at Government Primary School, Giaspura, Ludhiana, which was inaugurated by the Punjab Finance Minister in January this year.

The Vardhman Group under its CSR initiatives has done several projects in the field of education, health care and rural development in numerous states of India.
