HP World on Wheels To Reach 6,400 Villages Under CSR Initiatives

HP WORLD ON WHEELS TO REACH 6,400 VILLAGES UNDER CSR INITIATIVES

Hewlett Packard (HP) launched a soft demo of ‘HP World on Wheels’ yesterday at DLP Cybergreens, Gurgaon.

The new program, ‘HP World on Wheels’ (WoW) is a part of HP’s global initiative to create opportunities in underserved communities and empower people. It is also meant to support Indian government’s Digital India initiative to transform country into digitally forward nation. HP’s allegiance was to build and set out 48 self-contained, internet- enabled digital inclusion and learning labs in PPP mode aimed at driving digital, literacy, education programming, entrepreneurship training, and other community services in rural parts of India.

HP World on Wheels aspires to reach 6,400 villages, impacting lives of more than 15 million people over the span of 6 years. Each 20-seat, IT enabled WoW digital inclusion and learning lab will be equipped with HP computing and printing equipment, such as HP Thin Clients, an HP Workstation, and an HP OfficeJet all-in-one printer, as well as software suites and e-learning tools, like HP Classroom Manager and HP VideoBook. The classrooms will allow individuals to gain access to IT literacy programs and connect to different government programs. The digital inclusion and learning labs are fashioned with leading technology to reduce emissions and maximize energy efficiency. Each mobile lab will be powered by 10 high-efficiency solar panels of 315 watts each, generating nearly 15 kilowatts of energy daily—which is almost 20 percent higher than the lab’s daily energy requirements.

“As we work to create technology that makes life better for everyone, everywhere, we recognize that a big gap remains between those who have access, and those who don’t,” said Nate Hurst, Chief Sustainability and Social Impact Officer, HP.

“We’re thrilled to take another step forward in helping bridge the divide with HP World on Wheels, bringing quality education, entrepreneurship training, and access to essential services to people right where they are.”, he added.

The beneficence of the vehicle include Digital Literacy Training, EDP Training for youth, E education for students (K-12), Common Citizenship Activities including Aaadhar Card, Ration card, driving license, Land records, Financial Inclusions etc; Video conferencing for specific groups etc.
