Power Grid Corporation donates six ambulances

The Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services in Puducherry on Tuesday received at least six ambulances from the Power Grid Corporation of India, a public sector enterprise.

The six ambulances – an air-conditioned Tata Winger — that cost Rs. 61.5 lakh was donated by the Power Grid Corporation under their Corporate Social Responsibility.

A senior official in the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services said that out of the six ambulances, three were already donated to Government General Hospitals in Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam regions. The remaining three ambulances were donated to Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital and Post Graduate Institute, Community Health Centre Mannadipet and Primary Health Centre, Villianur, Puducherry region.

Ambulances for PHCs

The Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services, from the funds of Deputy Director (Public Health), purchased three Tata Sumo Ambulances at Rs.18 lakh for the primary health centres at Karayambuthur, Nettapakkam and Kalapet.

Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy donated the ambulances to the concerned medical institutions in the presence of Minister for Health Malladi Krishna Rao and MLAs of Mannadipet and Nettapakkam constituencies. Director (Health) K.V. Raman was present.
