State Moves over 3 lac migrants

In past few weeks the state govt thought a coordinated effort has facilitated movement of over 3.14 lac migrants to other states. ACS labour and Employment Vipul Mittra said that through the Digital Gujarat portal about 2 lacs migrants have been provided permits to facilitate their movement in last few days.  It’s a massive number “In a systematic and smooth manner, collectors have facilitated movement of over 3.14 lac migrants in past few days” Mittra said, “out of that 26000 migrants have been transported by Shram Express special trains. So far 23 trains have left and another 12-15 trains will be leaving by tomorrow morning depending on the clearance by the host state “Mittra said. “in addition, 258 ST buses have transported 5555 migrants essentially to neighboring states “Mittra said. Other than these about 2.25 lac migrants have been issued passes to move out in private or hired vehicles in a systematic manner.

Mittra said that the movement is done in close coordination with the receiving states. States like UP MP Bihar and Jharkhand have the largest number of migrants who are returning into their states. So these states have to plan huge logistics to receive their residents back, screening them and sending them to their homes. “moreover the receiving railway station has to keep a gap of 2-3 hours to sanitise their stations after each arrival “Mittra said, “we have to take all precautions to ensure that migration does not lead to spread of infection into the hinterland “.

Therefore, advance planning is a must while planning the trains. Coordination with other states and with railways. Is the main thing. “the number of trains will be ramped up in consultation with the host states and railways. “Mittra said, “All collectors are working round the clock to manage this massive operation in the smoothest possible manner“ said Mittra,” we are constantly interacting through WhatsApp and video calling as well as regular VC at all levels and CM is constantly monitoring this personally.
