The Young Innovators Competition for Social Entrepreneurs by ITU

Our 2015 competition is once again seeking the most exciting ideas or start-ups in response to a series of challenges based on the United Nations Development Agenda and running up until ITU Telecom World 2015 in Budapest, Hungary. Our unique interactive platform, powered byCrowdicity, is open to young people from anywhere in the world to engage with the challenges and to contribute, comment, refine and evolve ideas.

Selected winners will join us at the event in Budapest for an accelerator programme of pitching sessions, workshops, mentoring and networking with our high-level audience – as well as the opportunity to win seed funding.

ITU Telecom World 2015 Young Innovators Competition organized in partnership with Intel

The ITU Telecom World Young Innovators Competition and Intel are looking for entrepreneurs with innovative ideas on how to apply the latest generation of single board computers and controllers to social causes. Solutions could be based on tools such as Intel Edison and Intel Galileo, applied in the form of wearables, embedded devices, Internet of Things solutions or other applications which can be used to improve people’s lives.

These technologies have been almost instantly transformed by rapid developments in single board controllers and computers, with platforms like Intel Edison and Intel Galileo at the heart of many wearable, embedded and IoT devices. The combination of the open source basis of the technologies, their low costs, potential for customization and small sizes have made them ideal for a wave of inventors, makers and tinkerers to prototype a new generation of technologies which have been at the heart of the coming technological revolution.

If harnessed as a tool for social good and made accessible to the neediest in society, wearables and the IoT have the potential to vastly improve the lives of developing communities around the world in any aspect, such as education, agriculture, personal safety or health.
