About the Organization-

Villgro was founded in 2001 by Paul Basil, with a mission to create impactful, innovative and successful social enterprises. Core to their work is the belief that market based models are a powerful way to solve social problems and create impact at scale. By capacitating these models with the right resources and knowledge, they are a sustainable way of creating lasting social impact.

About the Grant- 

The 'Sustainable Mobility Challenge' is a multi-pronged program targeting startups at different stages of maturity who are focussed on solving problems related to sustainable mobility. In a rapidly urbanizing country like India, although there is an increased focus on public infrastructure, there is a large gap when it comes to sustainable, convenient and cost-effective modes of transportation for large sections of society.

Eligibility Criteria- 

For-profit enterprises that are working on areas of sustainable mobility as per the below sub-categories are encouraged to apply:

  • Multi-modal transport fulfillment
  • Optimization – traffic flow, routes, fleets
  • Road Safety
  • Shared mobility and better access to transport
  • Application of Electric Vehicles to one or more of the above areas

Title- Applications invited for TIH IIT Fellowship Grant under NIDHI-EIR

Organization- IIT Patna VISHLESHAN I-HUB FOUNDATION 

Deadline- 21 September 2022

About the Organization- 

The Organization is the nodal center and a Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) for technology development and activities in “Speech, Video, and Text Analytics Technologies” and other related areas under National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NMICPS)." Under the proposed TIH, IIT Patna aims to promote translational research in CPS technologies, especially in “Speech, Video and Text Analytics”.

About the Grant- 

IIT Patna Vishlesan I-Hub Foundation calls for proposals under NIDHI-EIR is National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovation - Entrepreneur-in-Residence. TIH IIT Patna will facilitate fellowship grants to budding entrepreneurs for pursuing a promising technology business idea. 

Eligibility Criteria- 

  • The EIR applicant should be a citizen of India
  • Applicants should have completed 4 years of formal full time undergraduate/postgraduate education (across one or more-degree programs) with graduation /diploma in science or engineering. 
  • Applicants holding 3 years degree /diploma in science or engineering with 2 year full-time work experience after completion of degree or diploma are also eligible.
  • Applicants shall be willing to pursue the business idea under NIDHI EIR full time. It cannot be concurrent with any other remuneration or fellowship.
  • The applicant shall propose one technology business idea in a prescribed format and should have a formal business plan for the idea they intend to pursue
  • Applicants seeking the support should demonstrate the ability to build a scalable technology business startup and make a business presentation including the investment proposal.
  • The applicant should be willing to be registered for the pre-incubation or incubation program at the IIT Patna Vishlesan I-Hub Foundation for the entire duration of NIDHI-EIR support.

Organization- Khyentse Foundation

About the Organization- 

Khyentse Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 2001 by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche to support all traditions of Buddhist study and practice. Khyentse Foundation activities include major text preservation and translation projects, support for traditional monastic colleges in Asia.

About the Grant- 

Khyentse Foundation Trisong Grants aim to identify and support individuals and organizations that are working to promote mental health and well-being in the world, through projects and programs that have a foundation in Buddha’s wisdom. 

Eligibility Criteria-

  • Applications that offer innovative, creative, and skillful solutions to sharing a Buddhist view of basic well-being. Most of our applications come from Buddhist practitioners or groups.
  • Applications that will help others, care for those in need, and share Buddha’s wisdom and values, with new people in contemporary ways, are eligible to apply.

Organization- GBIF

About the Organization-

GBIF—the Global Biodiversity Information Facility—is an international network and data infrastructure funded by the world's governments and aimed at providing anyone, anywhere, open access to data about all types of life on Earth. 

About the Grant- 

The GBIF Secretariat is seeking proposals from data publishers, Participant nodes and developers of collection management systems to participate in a pilot project showcasing how an emerging unified data model can improve how data derived from specimens in scientific collections are represented in GBIF. 

Eligibility Criteria- 

Applications are welcome from representatives including staff or individual/freelance contractors of:

  • Institutions located in a country participating in GBIF (see list of voting and associate Participant countries)
  • Vendors of collection management systems used by institutions within countries participating in GBIF
  • GBIF Participant nodes with experience of shaping collections data and who have access to collections data to use in this pilot project
  • Partnerships among any of the above
  • In all cases, applicants should demonstrate in their proposal that they have permission to use the data that they intend to work with during this pilot project.

All applicants must fulfill one of the following criteria:

  • Must be actively publishing data via GBIF
  • Must commit to publishing new datasets through GBIF as a result of this work
  • Willing to actively develop or support a collection management system and have a dataset that can comply with criterion a or b

Applicants should have experience and knowledge of the following:

  • Current GBIF data publishing practices
  • Structure of the data they will use in the pilot work
  • Familiarity with the goals of the Diversifying the GBIF Data Model project
  • Sufficient technical skill to be able understand the Unified Data Model and deliver one or more datasets using that model. Technical support on the Unified Model will be available during the period of the contract, but applicants should be familiar with the basics of using a database such as PostgreSQL, schemas, constraints and foreign keys.

About the Grant- 

A one-of-its-kind project inspired by Hyundai's global vision of ' Progress for Humanity', the Art for Hope program aims to revive traditional art and create awareness amongst youth. The program endeavors to showcase India's rich art, craft and culture while helping elevate the lives of artisans and craftspersons. 

Eligibility Criteria- 

Project proposals are invited from individual artists or collective/institutions/ foundations at any stage, in their practice across domains viz., visual art, performance art, digital art, folk & traditional arts and crafts (hereinafter called as the “Art”) in the following categories:

  • Institutional Grant – Registered NGO/Trust/Museum/Association/Collective or Social Enterprise
  • Individual Grant
  • Practicing artist under the age of 40
  • Having formally trained in arts for a minimum period of 3-4 years, unless a traditional and folk artist
  • Must have artisan card in case of traditional artist
  • Primary occupation of the participant should be Art
  • Project proposals must be for community relevant social & environmental causes unless in support of recognized traditional arts & crafts

Mozilla Technology Fund cohort, focuses on reducing the bias in and increasing the transparency of artificial intelligence (AI) systems. Mozilla Technology Fund (MTF) is seeking proposals from projects which are providing tools and resources to auditors who are working to create greater accountability for AI systems. Their aim is to double-down on our investments in the AI transparency space while leveraging the learnings and community of the Open Source Audit Tooling (OAT) Initiative.

Eligibility Criteria-

  • Have a product or working prototype in hand--projects which have not moved beyond the idea stage will not be considered
  • Already have a core team in place to support the development of the project (this team might include software developers working in close collaboration with auditors, AI researchers, designers, product/project managers, and subject matter experts)
  • Embrace openness, transparency, and community stewardship as methodology
  • Make their work available under an open-source license
