The CSR Practitioners’ Forum

The Companies Act 2013 brought in significant changes in the CSR landscape in India. Besides pushing for mandatory spend on CSR, it categorically furthered the idea of need-based initiatives aligned with the national priorities such as public health, education, skills development, livelihoods, water conservation and natural resource management. We have seen intensive national level deliberations on the potential role and responsibility of businesses in contributing toward addressing social issues  in past five years.

The mandatory CSR provision has completed 4 years and we have a lot to discuss, learn, unlearn and relearn to ensure that we deliver on impacts with the real intent behind  the CSR rules; the efficiency and project management expertise of corporate sector. With a lot of debate around the business-NGO partnerships, business-NGO-government collaborations, we unfortunately, sidelined the most important aspects of the CSR arena; the business to business accord on CSR.

As CSR head or CSR project manager, most of us have come across multitude of challenges, have learnt a lot about a particular project type or have ideas to improve practices on the ground and convince board-members for a particular initiative. How often, we do open-up floor for these peer-learning opportunities!

‘CSR-Accord’ is a CSRBOX (a sister platform of NGOBOX) initiative to bring together CSR practitioners in regional forums and curate thematic discussions for better coordination and    exploring avenues of peer-learning.
