About the Organization

The British Council is the United Kingdom's international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations. We create international opportunities for the people of the UK and other countries, building trust worldwide.

Our iconic building in New Delhi was designed by renowned architect Charles Correa and was opened in 1993 displaying a unique mural by Howard Hodgkin on the façade symbolising the banyan tree – an enduring image of India -- along with a sculpture by Stephen Cox in the Charbagh called the Descent of the Ganges.

About the Grant

Funding can be used to establish new research environment links, or significantly develop existing links, between research groups, departments or institutions, with the potential for longer-term sustainability.

Each collaboration should support capacity strengthening in the partner institution, while stimulating longer-term interactions between the UK and the partner country.

Grant amount: £25,000 to £40,000

Eligibility

The call accepts joint proposals from one lead UK institution and one lead partner country institution. The application must be submitted by the lead UK institution.

UK lead institutions must be one of the following:

• A higher education provider with degree awarding powers
• A not-for-profit research institution, establishment or organisation.

Partner country institutions must be one of the following:

• A higher education provider, as locally defined
• A not-for-profit research institutions, establishments and organisations, as locally defined.

The online application can only be started and submitted by the lead UK institution. Any application started by a non-UK institution will be automatically ineligible.
