About the Organization

Founded in 2022, the Wild Wonder Foundation is dedicated to encouraging nature connection and conservation through attention, curiosity, art, science, and community.

We strive to make nature and nature journaling accessible to everyone by sponsoring the annual Wild Wonder Nature Journaling Conference as well as other events, educational workshops, field trips, teacher trainings, retreats, exhibits, grants, and other activities and projects in support of our mission.

About the Grant

The Wild Wonder Foundation is dedicated to encouraging nature connection and conservation through attention, curiosity, art, science, and community.

Through the Wild Wonder Micro Grant Program, we celebrate the creativity in the global nature journaling community, generate new outreach ideas, and support individuals leading projects and clubs that bring nature journaling to new audiences, especially those that are currently underserved.

New grant categories for 2026!

We now have two categories of Micro Grants:

  • Project Micro Grant (applications open January 1, 2026) supports programs focused on project development to bring nature journaling to communities and individuals. These are the same kinds of grants we have given since the inception of the program.
  • Club Micro Grant (applications open May 1, 2026), supports the establishment and growth of Nature Journaling Clubs throughout the world.

Award range

Grant awards will range from $300-$1,250 USD.

Number of grants awarded

Approximately 12-15 Project Micro Grants per year will be awarded.

Eligibility

The Project Micro Grant program aims to support a variety of projects anywhere in the world, and the practice of nature journaling must be the focus of the project. Especially encouraged are projects that train educators how to teach nature journaling, thereby amplifying the work supported by the grant. Eligible projects can include but are not limited to:

  • Nature journaling events, training, classes, publications, websites, etc.
  • Other projects or materials that help people engage with nature and nature journaling, increase the number of new nature journalers, and/or expand the capacity for people to teach others.

Funds can be used to:

  • Purchase/create materials
  • Purchase equipment
  • Support development/teaching time
  • Pay for other items that directly support implementation of the project
