Tech Mahindra Foundation is the corporate social responsibility arm of Tech Mahindra Limited, a Mahindra Group Company. The Foundation set up in 2007, as a Section 25 Company (referred to as a Section 8 Company in the Companies Act, 2013), has been working tirelessly in the areas of education, employability and disability, with a keen focus on corporate volunteering. It operates across twelve locations in India. Since its inception Tech Mahindra Foundation has been aligning its work with Government of India’s vision of skilling youth and providing them with the employment opportunities.

The SMART (Skills for Market Training) Programme provides top class training in 35 trades through its network of 100 centers in 12 cities of the country by training more than 20,000 youth per annum. The Foundation is one of the leading CSRs in the country, which reaches out to almost 100,000 primary and 400,000 secondary beneficiaries.

In addition to these centers, the Foundation has started SMART Academies with the intent of offering more advanced and longer-term courses in some specialized vocations. Launched in May 2016, the first Tech Mahindra SMART Academy for Healthcare is working for training paramedics in the Healthcare Sector. The Academy is a state-of-the-art training institute, situated in North Delhi, in the pristine campus called Gandhi Ashram. It aims at creating a cadre of well qualified, trained professionals in the field of allied healthcare by providing high quality innovative and interactive training to young men and women keen to pursue a career in Healthcare. The second Tech Mahindra SMART Academy in Healthcare sector was launched in 2017 at Mohali.  The third Tech Mahindra SMART Academy for Healthcare in Mumbai is slated to launch in Nov 2018. The Mumbai Academy will be an all-girls Academy in partnership with Auxilium Selasian Society, Bandra. The Academies though, not for profit initiatives but work on a financially sustainable model in which students are charged a nominal fee to cover part of the operational expenses. The Foundation is looking at Bengaluru as the possible location for the fourth Healthcare Academy.

Within a short span of time the Tech Mahindra Smart Academies for Healthcare have established themselves as preferred destinations for those who want to make their career in healthcare sector. The academies have been able to attract students from different states namely- Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Assam, Manipur, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Bihar and Chhattisgarh. The Academy has been providing trained manpower to leading as part of its campus placement initiatives. Almost all the leading hospitals are participating in both OJT and Placement of the students.

Keeping in mind Government of India’s vision of Skilling India and after establishing itself in the field of healthcare Tech Mahindra SMART Academy plans to foray into Logistics sector. According to Economic Survey, the logistics sector in India is estimated to touch 215 USD million in next 2 years. The Indian logistics industry has grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.8 per cent during the last five years and provides employment to more than 22 million people. Creation of a new logistics division in the Department of commerce for developing logistics sector in an integrated way further establishes importance of skilled manpower requirement in times to come. Tech Mahindra Smart Academy for Logistics aims to train unemployed youth with the adequate skills and bridge the gap of inadequate skilled manpower (in terms of quality and quantity both) in the Logistics sector.  The Academies plans to offer certificate and diploma courses with an integrated internship segment.

Objectives of the study

The main objectives of study are as under:

  • To give overall perspective of logistic sector including Central & State government policies and initiatives to promote the sector and skilling
  • To identifyat least 10 job roles (Current&futuristic) inHyderabadregion and their projections for next 10 years
  • Job description of identified job roles, salaries offered, entry qualification and major recruiters with their contact details for each sub sector (Ware house, Transportation, E-commerce, Supply chain etc.)
  • Competitor analysis covering fees structure, duration, qualification and Mode of offering (Distance mode / Full time / Part time etc.)
  • To identify & evaluate accreditation options for the courses.
  • Identify various Employers willing to partner with the academy for internships in suggested job roles

Scope of work:

The scope of work includes market scan of Hyderabad region and preparation of a detailed project report covering below-mentioned points:

  • Detailed survey of Employers involved in Logistics sector
  • Job Role mapping
  • Competitor analysis
  • Possible partnerships for on the job training of the students
  • Possible Recognitions/Affiliations/ Certifications
