Introduction

Activity- Abt Associates Inc., invites experienced companies, agencies, industrial associations/bodies to compete for a contract to provide services for “Workplace Intervention on Sexual and Reproductive Health for Sustaining Health Outcomes through the Private Sector (SHOPS) Plus project” as specified in Annex A “Statement of Work” of this RFP. Abt’s estimated total budget for this procurement is approximately in the range of INR 1,15,00,000 (One crore fifteen lakh rupees) to INR 1, 36, 00,000 (One crore thirty six lakhs rupees) inclusive of applicable taxes.

The SHOPS plus Project

The SHOPS Plus project in India is a four year (May 2016 – September 2020) initiative to increase the use of family planning (FP), child health (CH) and tuberculosis (TB) treatment products and services among the urban poor through private sector approaches. The SHOPS Plus India project builds on past successes and lessons learned from USAID investments in private sector solutions, including the Private Sector Partnerships-One, Market-Based Partnerships for Health (MBPH) and Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector (SHOPS) projects implemented by Abt Associates in India.

Goal and Objectives:

Goal:

Increased knowledge and use of FP and RH products and services among 10,000 or more working urban youth through a WPI piloted in Delhi NCR region.

Objectives:

Increase awareness of safety and efficacy of family planning methods and safe sexual practices among working youth:

  • Familiarity with 3 short-acting family planning methods
  • Understanding of how to use them properly and awareness of their side effects
  • Increase availability of FP and RH information among working urban youth
  • Institutionalize WPI on FP and RH within selected companies

Target Group:

Preliminary research identified the target group for this intervention to be:

  • Married and unmarried working population with a focus on youth (ages 15-29)
  • Literate
  • Mobile phone owner (preferably smart phone)
  • Income of 1 – 6 Lakhs per annum

Company selection criteria:

Initial selection criteria for companies will include:

  • High number of entry level workers 15 to 29
  • Employee size of 5,000 or more
  • Majority of employees living outside of family/parents’ home
  • Primarily female work force
  • Company leadership motivated to participate
  • Presence and operations in other SHOPS Plus project locations
