Background

Asian Paints under its Corporate Social Responsibility wing invites proposal from NGOs/Consulting firms and Social Sector Organizations under its vertical of Water Conservation for impact assessment of water resource development project implemented in 22-23 in 11 villages of Satara of Khandala block (Maharashtra).

The broader objectives of the initiatives were:

• To increase the ground water level through implementation of soil and water conservation interventions.
• To make sure the availability of drinking water in the operational village.
• To increase area under cultivation through making water available for irrigation through creation of water harvesting structures.
• To increase agricultural productivity in Kharif and Rabi season.
• To increase in the groundwater level.
• To reduce soil erosion through undertaking area treatment works.
• To support floral and faunal growth through creation water harvesting structure and thereby creation of water storage

Key Objectives and Scope of Work

The study objective is to assess the extent and nature of impact of the programme upon famers livelihood.

The specific indicators to be assessed are as follows:

1. Impact on Surface and Ground Water Recharge
2. Impact on Agricultural Land and Practices
3. Impact on Farmer and Family Lives and Livelihood including Animal Husbandry
4. Other Impact Areas apart from Water Rejuvenation

Target Population

Village Community in and around the project locations specifically:

1. Farmers utilising the water for agriculture/animal husbandry and
2. Families utilising the water for potability and wash including the minimisation of drudgery for water collection for home use.

Requirements from the Agency:

1. Go through the baseline report/other reports available with Asian Paints.
2. Develop a sampling plan for farmers and other stakeholders like the government. Sampling plan should be at the district level.
3. The sampling methodology to take care of neutralizing all external factors to ensure that the results are the most accurate representation of the field situation.
4. For each scope, identify specific key indicators in consultation with Asian Paints Limited.
5. Field testing of the questionnaire to be done with initial set of respondents and based on the feedback, entire study to be executed.
6. The agency to submit a detailed proposal and quotation strictly as per the formats provided in Annexures.
7. Regular sharing of emerging data and trends within the order to incorporate the feedback in the report.
