About Patang

Patang is a dynamic NGO based in Sambalpur, Odisha, India, working on critical issues like youth development, gender equality, and education. Founded in 2003, Patang has a dedicated team and a strong track record of success. In light of the evolving social and economic landscape of Western Odisha, Patang seeks to develop a strategic roadmap to ensure its continued relevance and impact for the next 20 years.

 

Objective

The objective of this assignment is to engage a consultant to support Patang in developing a comprehensive strategic plan and roadmap. This roadmap will guide the organization's future direction, vision, and focus areas, ensuring its continued effectiveness in addressing the needs of young people and communities in Odisha and beyond.

 

Scope of Work

The consultant will undertake the following activities:

1. Data Collection and Situational Analysis:

• Conduct a comprehensive review of Patang's existing relevant documents and program areas.
• Conduct online and offline consultations with various stakeholders, including:
• Patang staff members at all levels
• Board of Directors
• Youth representatives from the communities Patang serves
• Local government officials and community leaders (as appropriate)
• Analyze relevant secondary data on social, economic, and demographic trends in Western Odisha.

2. Strategic Planning and Roadmap Development:

• Facilitate workshops and discussions with stakeholders to identify Patang's key strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT analysis).
• Develop a clear vision statement for Patang's future.
• Define strategic focus areas aligned with Patang's mission and the evolving needs of Odisha and India
• Establish clear and measurable objectives for each strategic focus area.
• Develop a roadmap outlining key action steps, timelines, and resource requirements for achieving strategic objectives.

3. Communication and Reporting:

• Maintain regular communication with Patang's leadership team throughout the consultancy process.
• Submit a draft strategic plan and roadmap for feedback and revisions by July 2024.
• Finalize the strategic plan and roadmap based on feedback received.
• Present the final plan to Patang's leadership team and Board of Directors.

 

Deliverables

1. Inception report outlining the consultant's proposed methodology and work plan (within 2 weeks of contract signing).
2. Draft strategic plan and roadmap for Patang (by July 2024).
3. Finalized strategic plan and roadmap incorporating feedback from stakeholders (by July 2024).
4. Presentation materials summarizing the strategic plan and roadmap.

 

Timeline

1. Project duration:  May 2024 – July 2024
2. Regular progress updates: Provided to Patang's leadership team throughout the project.
3. Draft strategic plan and roadmap: Submitted by July 2024.
4. Final strategic plan and roadmap: Delivered by July 2024.

 

Consultant Qualifications

1. Proven experience in strategic planning and facilitation for non-profit organizations.
2. Strong understanding of social development issues in India, particularly in rural and tribal areas.
3. Direct exposure to youth development work/youth organisations in India
4. Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
5. Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
6. Experience conducting consultations in both online and offline settings.
7. Proficiency in data analysis and report writing.

 

Selection Process

Patang will shortlist consultants based on the qualifications outlined above. Consultants are invited to submit a technical and financial proposal. The final selection will be made based on a combination of factors, including the consultant's experience, proposed methodology, and cost.
