About Room to Read India
Room to Read India works to transform the lives of children by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Established in 2003, it presently has programs in 12 states – Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi NCR, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. Room to Read has so far benefited more than 18 million children in India.
Scope of Work
Room to Read India seeks to engage a Digital Media Consultant to support with managing digital media platforms of Room to Read India. The Consultant is expected to carry out assignments primarily from Room to Read India’s Country Office in Delhi and will collaborate with the Communications department. This consultancy will require physical presence at the office for coordination and execution of deliverables
Key attributes
- Proven ability to craft and implement engaging content strategies across major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).
- Demonstrated success in building and growing online communities, with an understanding of audience behaviour and engagement trends.
- Strong visual storytelling skills, with hands-on experience in graphic design (Canva, Procreate) and video editing tools (Filmora, Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar).
- Experience in developing and executing campaign strategies, including content calendars and cross-platform content planning.
- Working knowledge of digital marketing tools and techniques—email marketing, running targeted online ads, using hashtags effectively, and conducting keyword research and analytics.
- Experience in managing and executing social media live sessions/webinars for strategic campaigns or organizational messaging.
- Ability to write compelling case stories, captions, and short-form narratives tailored for different audiences and platforms.
- Ability to deliver high-quality outputs under tight timelines and collaborate with relevant stakeholders as needed.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to track performance metrics and optimize content strategies based on analytics.
- Awareness of current digital trends, platform updates, and emerging tools to enhance communication efforts.
Key Deliverables
- Social Media Strategy & Content Calendar – Develop a platform-specific strategy aligned with campaign goals, including a monthly/quarterly content plan.
- Content Creation & Curation – Produce engaging posts (text, images, videos, reels, infographics) and source relevant third-party content for audience engagement.
- Brand Voice & Messaging Guidelines – Define and maintain a consistent tone, visual style, and messaging framework across Room to Read Social Media platforms.
- Platform Management & Posting – Schedule and publish content on agreed channels, ensuring optimal timing and consistency.
- Community Engagement – Monitor comments, messages, and mentions; respond promptly; and foster meaningful interaction with followers.
- Campaign Execution – Design and run campaigns (as set in the comms goals for the year), contests, and hashtag initiatives to boost visibility and engagement.
- Analytics & Reporting – Track KPIs (reach, engagement, clicks, conversions) and share actionable insights for performance improvement.
- Trend Spotting & Recommendations – Monitor platform updates, social trends, and competitor activity to suggest innovative ideas and keep content relevant.
Technical Evaluation Criteria
- Prior experience in managing social media platforms for a minimum of 3 years.
- Experience of working on editing software. For example, ability to use Filmora for in-house video editing, Canva for post creation.
- Experience of working on google ads/ YouTube ads/Email Marketing / running online ads / hashtags and Keyword research.
- Previous samples of creatives and videos that demonstrate the skills and creative capabilities expected.
Contract duration: 11 months
