Job Description
The Analyst/ Junior Analyst will be part of the Low Carbon Transition team in India and will undertake robust and careful analysis to develop sectoral transition frameworks, policy recommendations, and financial mechanisms, drawing on methodologies from economics, finance, public policy, and other disciplines.
In addition to analytical work, the Analyst/ Junior Analyst will support the communication and continued engagement with a range of national and international partners from the policy, finance, and corporate spheres, as well as with other CPI teams globally.
The Analyst’s/ Junior Analyst’s primary focus will be on Low Carbon Transition Finance, but will form an integral part of the CPI Climate Finance team and have the opportunity to collaborate with other Climate Finance programs.
Job Responsibilities
The Analyst/ Junior Analyst will work across three main areas of work: (1) Research & analysis, (2) Stakeholder engagement, and (3) Written communication.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative evaluation on transition impacts and costs.
- Identifying sources, types, and structures of finance required to provide transition assistance.
- Active participation and contribution to stakeholder meetings, acting on behalf of CPI.
- Support in engagements with prospective funders, collaborators.
- Support with the development of proposals.
- Communicate and collaborate with CPI staff working around the globe.
- Share responsibility with team members for monitoring the progress of the work plan and production of deliverables as per timelines.
- Writing and editing of high-quality products, including reports, papers, executive summaries, blogs, and presentations.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Master’s or above in energy, economics, finance, sustainable development, management, or a related field.
- Proven research and analytical experience in one or more of the following areas: energy transition, clean power, clean mobility, or industrial decarbonization.
- Strong understanding of India’s energy sector, including key policies, regulations, and recent developments.
- Solid grasp of finance; familiarity with public finance in the Indian context is preferred.
- Experience in conducting stakeholder consultations with public and private sector entities.
- Advanced quantitative and data analysis skills using MS Excel, Stata, R, or Python.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in research institutions, think tanks, or management consulting firms.
