PRS is a leading research group with the mission to strengthen India’s democracy by helping Parliament and state assemblies be more effective.  These institutions make laws, hold the governments accountable and allocate public funds.  It is important that they have information and analysis to perform their functions well, and that citizens have channels of engaging with their elected representatives.

Job Description/Responsibilities

PRS is looking to expand its research team and plans to build research capacity in science and technology.  Members of the research team prepare briefing notes on Bills in Parliament and state assemblies, policy developments and budgets.  They also brief senior policy makers in person, and write occasional articles in the media.

Core responsibilities: The Analyst/Associate Analyst (Science & Tech) would be someone who is passionate about communicating scientific research to a wider audience and is interested in the policy space.  They will be expected to follow various technology and science developments that have policy implications, and write thorough and easy-to-read notes which are accessible to a lay audience.  These will include briefs on upcoming legislation, policy matters, scientific developments, and budgets.  The candidate should have the ability to work independently and create new research products, as well as to communicate the research to a wide audience.  The Science and Tech Analyst would be someone who is passionate about communicating scientific research to a wider audience and is interested in the policy space.

This is a full-time role based in Delhi and may require travel for research and dissemination of research.  The position reports to the Head of Research.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• For Analyst (Science & Tech) - Bachelor’s degree in a science or tech stream and 2-3 years of work experience, or a Master’s degree in a science or tech stream. 
• For Associate Analyst (Science & Tech): Bachelor’s degree in a science or tech stream.
