Job Description

The Associate Director will support the design and implementation of strategies for reducing morbidity and mortality of people living with HIV by strengthening the market and accelerating access to the Advanced HIV Disease (AHD) package of care.

The role will require the employee to act as a thought leader and conduit between the CHAI teams focused on market shaping efforts, specifically act as bridge between HAP & GMT on market shaping deliverables for AHD therapeutics and diagnostics. The role holder will be responsible for co-developing strategy, execution, tracking progress, and mitigating risks.

Additionally, the role holder will support the market shaping component for CHAI’s paediatric HIV strategy, support in new business development/fundraising efforts, and donor engagement as necessary.

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive market shaping interventions for the HAP team, across diagnostics, therapeutics for adults and paediatrics
  • Lead the market interventions to incentivize generic development of L-AmB in collaboration with DNDI and Unitaid
  • Lead market shaping strategy for CD4, CrAg SQ, 5FC, L-AmB, Azithromycin, Fluconazole, and other commodities as necessary
  • Conducting other tasks and work as mutually agreed with CHAI Senior Director, HIV Access Program

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Business Administration, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Public Policy, or a related field with a minimum of ten years of relevant work experience in global health, healthcare market shaping, HIV program management, or access to medicines
  • Proven experience in designing and executing market shaping strategies for therapeutics and diagnostics, preferably within HIV/AIDS programs or infectious diseases
  • Strong understanding of HIV treatment and diagnostics landscape, particularly in relation to Advanced HIV Disease (AHD) and pediatric HIV care
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with product development partnerships (such as DNDi), donors (such as Unitaid), generic pharmaceutical manufacturers, and other key stakeholders to drive access initiatives
  • Experience in donor engagement, fundraising, and supporting new business development efforts in global health programs
  • Excellent strategic thinking, project management, and risk mitigation skills, with the ability to manage complex, multi-country, multi-stakeholder initiatives
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to track progress, adapt strategies based on emerging needs, and drive measurable outcomes
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multicultural teams and geographies, and to liaise effectively with internal teams such as HAP (HIV Access Program) and GMT (Global Markets Team)
