POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Cluster Coordinator – Sal and Siali Leaf Plate Cluster Development Project

Dhriiti (www.dhriiti.com) is seeking a 2 Cluster Coordinators to implement the “Sal and Siali Leaf Plate Cluster Development” Project in Rourkela and Keonjhar districts of Orissa. The Project is co-created and co-implemented with Orissa Forestry Sector Development Society and is currently working on micro entrepreneurship based sustainability of Sal & Siali leaf plate clusters in the region.

The Organization

Dhriiti is a non-profit organization working towards inspiring entrepreneurship, incubating impactful entrepreneurs and transforming communities for the past 12 years. Dhriiti was founded by three management graduates to tackle the problem of unemployment and underemployment and offer entrepreneurship as a respectable career/livelihood option. Since inception, Dhriiti has reached out to more than 10,000 youth directly and has partnered with more than 50 organizations to create impact.

 

Dhriiti has been supported by the government, private foundations, corporate bodies and individuals.

 

The Project

 

The Sal and Siali Leaf Plate Cluster Development Project has been initiated under the project 'Establishment of Innovative Partnership Eco-system around OFSDP Phase-I IGA Clusters'. The Income Generation Activities (IGA) framework of Odisha Forest Sector Development Project (OFSDP) is considered to have had significant contribution to the overall improvement of livelihoods of forest dependent communities in the state. OFSDP had attempted provide a 360-degree support in terms of necessary financial, technical, infrastructure and handholding supports to Vana Samrankshyana Samitis (VSSs) and SHGs in identifying, planning and implementing various IGA related works in collaboration with relevant partners and in sync with market and sustainability.

 

The project currently looks at building an innovation based model for the Sal and Siali based leaf plate making industry to not only reinvigorate the industry but to also increase the income and livelihood prospects of forest based communities in Orissa. The project has been planned to bring in different partners and stakeholders in partnership with the government to build an institutional eco-system conducive for the development of the forest based communities.

The Position

Key Responsibilities Include:

  1.       I.         Cluster coordination & implementation
    1. Coordinate with women producers and micro entrepreneurs to ensure the project activities are completed as per plan
    2. Coordinate with Program Manager to discuss field level updates and take corrective actions in case of gaps.
    3. Ensure project documentations/communication is properly done, tracking system is in place for effective project closure. 

 

  1.      II.         Field level partnerships and Communication 
    1. Identify & create partnerships required for effective implementation of the project ;
    2. Ensure updating of MIS with information on project implementation

Functional Competencies

  • Proven track record of thematic knowledge and practical experience of implementing projects of similar nature in similar capacities
  • Basic comfort level in use of technology to coordinate effectively within and outside the team

  • Ability to identify and adjust discrepancies and resolve operational problems;

Required Skills & Experience

  1. VIII.         Education:
  • Higher Secondary pass in any discipline
  1.    IX.         Experience:
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in field based activities in rural livelihoods/entrepreneurship projects in Orissa
  • Additional experience in women based initiatives will be given preference
  1.      X.         Language Requirements:
  • Fluency in Oriya and Hindi is required. 
  1.    XI.         Female applicants will be preferred

 

Compensation:

This position is contractual and valid for the period August 2017 – March 2018, post which the contract will be renewed on the basis of performance. The compensation for the above mentioned position would be Rs. 8000  per month. The incumbent will be eligible for a variable performance bonus at the end of the financial year based on the performance.
