The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) provides research-based policy solutions to sustainably reduce poverty and end hunger and malnutrition in developing countries. Established in 1975, IFPRI currently has more than 600 employees working in over 50 countries. It is a research center of CGIAR, a worldwide partnership engaged in agricultural research for development.

Job Summary:

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks a qualified candidate to serve as Communication Specialist I for its South Asia Regional Office (SAR). The position will be based in New Delhi, India and will report to the Director-South Asia. Interested applicants must have work authorization to work in India.

Essential Duties:

The main tasks will include:

  • Content creation and management for the South Asia Regional Office’s program website and other web portals
  • Manage program’s social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Flickr) and other web 2.0 tools to improve program visibility
  • Collect and analyze web, social media and other statistics to provide support for strategy decisions regarding South Asia communications
  • Maintain up-to-date program contact and manage program’s email newsletter (MailChimp)
  • Manage internal collaboration platform (SharePoint)
  • Liaise with IFPRI’s Communication and Knowledge Management Division and Publications Review Committee to prepare SAR products for cataloging, dissemination and branding
  • Write various types of communication materials on program outputs (examples: press releases, briefs, newsletters, brochures, etc.)
  • Prepare PPT and maintain a library of useful presentations
  • Assist in coordinating writing of reports to be delivered to the donors
  • Provide editorial support
  • Upon request, coordinate logistics and provide support for SAR events and workshops
  • Represent SAR at outside events/conferences as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, International Development, or related field, plus 3-5 years relevant experience, preferably with an International organization.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills, including copy editing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to work independently and with colleagues from diverse culture.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and produce completed products in time.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite and knowledge of website content management, including basic knowledge of html, photo editing, writing for the web.
