About Us

New Education Group - Foundation for Innovation and Research in Education (NEG-FIRE) is a non-profit, non-sectarian, national level NGO, promoting quality Pre-primary & Primary education for marginalized communities by partnering with grassroots NGOs. We work with the marginalized communities mostly the SCs and STs in UP, Jharkhand, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan states. We uphold the values of transparency, accountability, pluralism, equity, justice, peace and respect for all, in our work processes and relationships.

We are a team of dedicated professionals with diverse backgrounds and are based in 3 locations - Delhi, Lucknow and Bhopal. We are inviting applications from high performing individuals who possess required competencies, and compassion to work with the children from the marginalized communities for their education, to join our National team in Delhi. S/he must be enthusiastic to learn and grow in the organization.  

 

Position: Communications and Documentation Officer

Role Objectives:

  • To promote the mission of NEG-FIRE with an emphasis on enhancing visibility; building brand-image among all the stakeholders and potential donors.
  • To document and create a pool of institutional resources for internal reflections, learning, and knowledge management.

Key Responsibilities:

Visibility and Brand enhancement

  • Manage NEG-FIRE’s visibility, brand-image and positioning to strengthen relationship with all key stakeholders at national and regional level
  • Maintain consistency in branding and messaging across all communications
  • Keep all brand violations under check - manage copy rights, copy-left, creative commons, while sharing our products
  • Ensure digital marketing content aligns with our brand’s identity and message, and assist digital campaigns as needed

Content Development and Dissemination

  • To collect and collate success stories, photographs, articles, quotes, testimonials, pictures etc., through frequent field visits and in coordination with NEG-FIRE teams, partner NGOs, Teachers, Community groups, etc.
  • To create textual, audio and visual contents on a regular basis and Disseminate the contents through various communications channel to reach out to different stakeholders/ audience.
  • Content creation for the website and social media channels.
  • Develop IEC material (such as flyers, posters etc.) for sensitization among community members; and for increasing awareness on education among children.

Web-site and Social Media Communications

  • Ensure that the website of NEG-FIRE is updated at all times, alter/edit information as and when required.
  • Creating a web-based resource pool for ‘Tribal and Dalit Education themes’.
  • Ensuring regular presence of NEG-FIRE on our 3 current social media channels and making a social media calendar to assist in easy and timely posting/updating.
  • Exploring and Introducing new channels of visibility according to current trends and requirements.
  • Staying up to date with social media trends, do’s and don’ts, new channels and tools.
  • Create fundraisers on crowd funding platforms and social media channels.
  • Monthly e-mailers to stakeholders (sharing information, donations, other actions) via Mail Chimp.
  • Using the social media channels to motivate employees and volunteers.
  • Manage the blog of the organisation and ensure it is updated and there are regular contributions and new posts.

Documentation Support

  • Provide editorial, documentation and proof-reading support of all communications products of the organization - reports, strategy documents, research studies, training manuals, other organizational documents.
  • Liaise with different vendors for designing, printing and creation of communication material and ensure timely dissemination of various printed documents
  • Providing support in events including creating all communication material for the same (banners, back drops, standees etc.).
  • Development of the Annual Report and the Newsletter.
  • To coordinate with vendors for translations of material into other languages whenever required
  • Keep an inventory checklist of the internal publications/documents.
  • Develop and manage the budget of the Communications unit

Person Profile

  • Post-graduate degree in communication or related fields (preferably in arts, journalism, media studies)
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in communications or related field in the development sector.
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to capture audience by developing compelling stories from the field. 
  • Ability to write and present clearly and persuasively in English. Proficiency in Hindi and other regional language/ dialect is desirable.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint.  Knowledge of other presentation software like Prezi, Canva etc., and graphic designing software like CorelDraw and Photoshop will be an advantage.
  • Understanding of social media trends and email marketing software such as Mail Chimp is imperative.
  • An interest in photography, videography and design is desirable.
  • Adaptable to changing environment and openness to learn, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Professional maturity and ability to work effectively across levels, functions and regions.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to rural parts of India
  • Basic understanding of SC/ST communities and be sensitive to their development needs
