Job Summary:

The Tribal TB Initiative, launched on 26th March 2021, is a first-of-its-kind initiative that brings together several stakeholders with diverse capabilities to tackle the multi-dimensional issues specific to TB, prevalent among the tribal areas and communities. It includes collaboration between donors, governments and partners to strengthen primary health care service delivery from a system’s perspective, building a strong technology & information backbone, and providing support to the health workforce in the tribal areas.

Implemented over a four-year period by Piramal Swasthya under the overarching guidance of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the Initiative hopes to eliminate TB in the tribal Districts and achieve the following results:

(1) increase in TB case notification

(2) increase in treatment success rates among DS-TB and DR-TB

(3) decrease in deaths among TB patients

(4) increase in community participation for TB prevention and care activities

(5) reduction in TB vulnerability

This role will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

The role is expected to work towards,

 (1) collate information and synthesize learning from Traditional healers

(2) documentation of traditional healing practices

(3) Coordination with internal stakeholders and field teams

(4) Generate insights from research findings, interviews, focused group discussions

(5) Drafting the research papers and process document for dissemination

(6) Coordinate with Knowledge management team and NTSU

Desirable Qualification & Experience

  • Graduate in field of mass communications, social work, public health, development communication or related field.
  • 0-2 year of work experience in a reputed international/ large non-governmental organization/government organization
  • Understanding of State and District Health administration
  • Experience on documentation
  • Liaison with state and field teams to collate information with
  • Experience in the TB program or any health program would be preferable.

Essential skills:

  • Strong communication and liaison skills
  • Strong documentation and writing skills
  • Knowledge of research and its methodology
  • Proactive in taking inputs and revert
  • Ability to deliver high-quality outputs in limited time
  • Can be a resident of Meghalaya
  • Ability to understand and transcribe local Language of the state

Duration of posting:  6 months

  • The incumbent should be able to join the duty station at the earliest

Travel:  Medium travel locally to various intervention districts in the state of Meghalaya.
