Job Responsibilities

Project Tasks

Work closely with the Project Manager and project teams to ensure timely and effective delivery on Athena’s Sustainability Solutions projects, including but not limited to:

• Coordinate with national and regional partners, provide guidance, and handholding support, and troubleshoot on collating data and reporting on the monitoring framework and developing sanitation plans.
• Draft project deliverables based on primary and secondary research, which involves understanding contextual data generation challenges, developing data collection protocols - standardization of methods and processes, and data quality improvements.
• Undertake data analysis (both quantitative and qualitative) to make inferences from the available data across towns/cities or sectors or across time.
• Deploy standard and new approaches and methods for conducting scientific research.
• Develop performance improvement plans shifting the focus from an infrastructure-based service delivery approach to outcomes-based service delivery.
• Develop content for capacity-building sessions and deliver training sessions for various government and non-governmental stakeholders.
• Develop presentations with suitable use of graphics.
• Write reports for external communication with clients and stakeholders.
• Develop, review and recommend policies and strategies related to WASH, environmental protection, climate change, and sustainability.
• Coordinate with various national/international platforms and forums to provide outcome-based inclusive service delivery-related inputs and engage in sectoral discussions.
• Design and manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with broader strategic objectives.
• Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to meet goals and objectives.
• Travel to meet with clients, experts, and other project stakeholders.

Organizational Development

• Support other project teams as and when required.
• Support with exploring new research opportunities related to WASH, including but not limited to tracking opportunities, drafting proposals, and designing qualitative and quantitative research instruments.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Master’s Degree in an area related to Environmental Science, Public Policy, Sustainability, Water Management and Governance, International Development or a related field.
• 3-4 years of overall professional experience, with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Candidates with prior experience in climate-resilient WASH and circularity will be given preference.
• Experience in consulting and impact solutions space would be preferred
• Demonstrated skills in quantitative and qualitative research methods.
• Should have strong logical thinking and analytical abilities.
• Should have strong understanding of policy development, project management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills. Must be able to express ideas effectively clearly and concisely.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with teams with various backgrounds.
• Comfortable in working with multicultural teams across countries and time zones.
• Comfortable in using AI tools for productivity.
