UN Women’s Multi Country Office, based in New Delhi, India, covers four countries of the region, i.e., Bhutan, India, Maldives, and Sri Lanka.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the guidance and supervision of the EVAW Programme Specialist, UN WOMEN, the Consultant will undertake the following key tasks and other responsibilities as may be assigned.

The Consultant will be responsible for developing a methodological framework including tools for primary data collection such as defining the purposive sample, framing the interview schedules and questionnaires and will include the following areas of research:

  • Employment practices
  • Gender analysis of organizational structure and practices.
  • Gender disaggregated data on decision making/ leadership roles and employment data.
  • Processes of hiring, training/ capacity building, promotion and pay.
  • Evidence on affirmative action in HR policies and its implementation for inclusion of women and other marginalized groups into the companies at various levels.
  • Assessment of workplace infrastructure through the lens of social inclusion and gender.
  • Documenting existing commitments and leadership policies.

Required Skills and Experience


  • Master’s degree in social sciences, development studies, law, gender studies or related fields.


  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the development sector
  • Previous demonstrable experience in research and data collection.
  • Experience of working on gender related issues desirable.


  • Fluency in English and working knowledge of any other Indian language.
