The Organisation is holistically tackling issues at the root cause of gender inequality in India’s education system. Thier comprehensive model reforms government schools through community ownership and reaches up to 90% enrolment, higher attendance and improved learning outcomes for all girls. Founded in 2007, the non-governmental organization has a management and outreach office in Mumbai and operations in Pali, Jalore, Sirohi, Ajmer, Bundi, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Udaipur, and Jhalawar in Rajasthan and Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh. At this period, the organization is set to grow, and expand its reach of services beyond Rajasthan and have committed to launching interventions in multiple new geographies across India over the coming 3 years.

 Position Overview

The position will be based at organizations’ headquarter office in Mumbai, Maharashtra and reports to the Executive Director of the Organization. The position is primarily responsible to independently manage the M&E function in the organization and implement the result based M&E framework. The position heads the Impact division and is supported by a team close to 50 members across organizations head office, state and district offices located in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh respectively.

 Roles & Responsibilities

 Design strategy & framework:

 The position is responsible to review the existing M&E framework and provide inputs to design a modified version that is responsive to current programming expansion needs and serves as an effective input.

  • The position is responsible to ensure the proper functioning of programme MIS that respond to the M&E framework and capable of utilizing input and output formats that are user-friendly and responsive to needs across levels of the organization team.  
  • The position is responsible to ensure requisite coordination by Impact team with the programme management team at the national, state and district level to facilitate smooth implementation of M&E activities.
  • The position is responsible to design and maintain a dashboard of programme monitoring data and status on key evaluation parameters to inform the programme team on a periodic and contingent basis.

Analysis & Methodology:

  • The position is responsible to ensure requisite rigor based on globally accepted methodology, in research design, data collection and analysis to improve evaluation processes and ensure that results are unbiased and acceptable within and external to the organization implementation. 
  • The position is responsible to develop adequately informed research and monitoring briefs in consultation with programme staff as a formative input for design of monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • The position is responsible to lead and finalize research design and develop research and monitoring tools that are responsive to users from the programme team who may not have a specialization in M&E.
  • The position is responsible to maintain budgetary tracks for the M&E activities including assessing or anticipating variances and ensuring requisite measures are adopted to ensure cost effective implementation HR Management.

 

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • The position is responsible to manage secondary research on an ongoing basis including identifying relevant sources of data in India and overseas and conduct content analysis to render information as useful formative input for programmatic decisions.
  • The position is responsible to provide evidence-based strategic and operational inputs to the programme team based on analysis of quantitative and qualitative data emerging from M&E activities.

 

 Donor Engagement

  • The position is responsible to concurrently identify potential external collaborators to create a pool of external partners as may be required to support M&E activities at the national, state, and district and sub-district level.
  • The position will work closely with the Development team to support donor engagement & management.
  • The position will manage relationships with external stakeholders for M&E related aspects including external ‚Ä®research agencies, data collection entities, M&E experts, academic & research institutions, donor entities and government agencies.
  • The position is responsible to develop M&E outputs into user-friendly formats for routine reports and inclusion in programme related publications or presentations within and external to the organization team.

CANDIDATES SUITABLE FOR THIS POSITION

 Qualification & Experience

 

  • Masters or doctoral degree in Social Sciences

 

  • Experience of conducting rigorous applied social science research and sectoral expertise in education, with practical experience of working in areas related to education and research.

 

  • 8 - 15 years of relevant work experience preferably in the educational research sector.

 

  • Experience of independently handling projects related to programme monitoring & evaluation.

 

Skills, Abilities and Attitude

 

  • Strong analytical and documentation skills with a sound understanding of qualitative and quantitative research techniques including causal inference and statistical inference.

 

  • Well versed with any statistical software such as R or Stata.

 

  • Exposure of managing or participating in operations research including Randomized Control Trial and other rigorous experimental and quasi-experimental methodologies.

 

  • People management skills with past experience of managing diverse teams, Problem Solving skills with a solution oriented focus, Excellent communication skills both oral & written
