Job Description

In this context, WWF India is looking for a professional who can be part of this initiative of Decarbonizing Steel sector in India by (1) engaging with businesses, FIs & Banks, policy-makers, think-tanks in order to accelerate the commitment towards this transition, (2) facilitating creation of knowledge for the benefit of sector, (3) convening stakeholders’ engagement, and (4) work on the outreach and communication for larger dissemination. 

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for managing the on-ground implementation of the steel decarbonisation project, including effective delivery and execution of the project as per timelines, reporting and project documentation, identification, leveraging opportunities and providing a regular status update on the progress to the team.
• Developing partnerships with businesses, think-tanks, industry associations for increased engagement.
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with the steel sector stakeholders such as businesses, consultants and project implementation partners for the delivery of set objective.
• Responsible for producing knowledge products in the steel sector required for decarbonization efforts.
• Undertaking regular horizon scans and analysis of emerging policies, regulations and legislation in steel and related sector.
• Facilitating engagements with businesses, FIs & Banks, policy-makers, think-tanks, industry-associations in order to accelerate the commitment towards the transition.
• Convening sector stakeholders’ meetings, events and conferences.
• Planning and implementing influential outreach/ communication to facilitate larger engagement.
• Representing WWF-India in external meetings related to the sector

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated ability to work with and influence key stakeholders on the sustainability agenda, especially as it relates to the business world.
• Prior experience of about 5 years with experience of working in the steel sector in corporate/Consulting/think tanks, specifically related to energy transition, scope wise emission reduction, or closely related field.
• Knowledge of ferrous industry, especially steel.
• Demonstrated ability to synthesise complex information, regulations, and policies and translate into impactful advice, research, and communications.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills in English.
• Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
• Minimum Bachelors degree in environment, sustainability, metallurgical or related discipline or a Masters in any domain with strong experience in the Steel sector.
• Excellent analytical and conceptual understanding, along with strong written & verbal communication skills.
• Strong organization and prioritisation skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision.
• Team player with the ability to work with different seniority levels and strong work ethics.
• Experience working with Civil Society Organizations is preferred.
